Kamen Rider Den-O [Talk Up - Spoilers]

Even if they shoot non-sequential it still takes multiple hours to make the M-Ryo make up and then hours to shift into the U-Ryo make up... even if they were to make the M-Ryo shoot all in the same day and stuff.

Actually that's what they do. They do all the shooting involving M-Ryo one day or so and then do the rest elsewhere. You get a real sense of the filming style with the Behind the Scenes special from KR: the First.

From what I can tell in the pic the dude looks young, so hopefully Rider #2.

Mind you, I've been avoiding all Geki/Den-o spoilers/rumors so far.

So all of that means that Den-O has a smaller budget? Have you even considered what's in Den-O? We already have five rider suits, four Imagin suits, a lot of money being spent on making DenLiner not look as horrible as the CGI in Kabuto's bike scenes, more money spent on the Gigandeath (which, essentially, are new monsters), and the evil Imagin, it's about even. Even if it was just a one suit Rider show with no DenLiner, that still wouldn't mean anything. The lack of new Imagin every week could be attributed to the fact that they're actually trying to give the villains...personality? You know, something that 95% of the Worms lacked. Making copies of the same suit (green Worms) doesn't cost nearly as much as individual suits for MOTWs, that's why they could have so many of them.

Five Rider suits in Den-o, 15 Rider Suits in Kabuto (counting Masked Form and Rider forms. From this rate, Den-o will probably have less than 25 Imagin (monster suits). Kabuto had around 40 Worm suits, not including atleast a dozen Green Worms and Zect Troopers (as well as Natives, Shadow Zect and White Zect). The CGI in Den-o to me looks on par compared to Hibiki.

They could hardly develop the villains personailty in two episodes. The only thing that actually do is have someone voice them. Its no doubt Den-o has a lower budget than Kabuto which might mean 2008 rider show will even have a lower one.

It costs more money to pay a team of people to sit behind a computer an animate an entire fight scene then it does to pay a crew of people to make a suit that they can continuously alter for future designs.

I assume it they will cost around the same unless you have some figures to prove me wrong. I also know that animators can perform more than one job. They can do more than just design a 3D monster, they also do the green/blue screen effect as well as henshin and form changing effects. While monster suit makers probably just make monster suits all day.

Den O is filming in HD, which means new cameras, which costs money. Den O heavily uses CGI effects, more money per animation. Den O has two hang out locations, a sound stage called the Denliner (which costs money to construct) and a on site location called the Milk Dipper (which they have to either pay the owner to use or a rent to use that facility). They also shoot on locations WITHIN THE CITY, which costs money to shut down parts of the city to film action scenes.

When you look at it, Den O is VERY expensive to make. Unlike previous riders... if I recall correctly, Hibiki reused monsters and kept reusing that cave which was used a lot in Boukenger.

The show has been filmed in HD for a while. So they aren't using new cameras. I think it has been in HD since Kuuga.

Almost all the Rider shows have two stages. Kabuto had Tendou's House and Bistro La Salle, as well as the Zect Van. Hibiki had Asumu's house and Takeshi's base. I can go on. Its not extra money they are spending on Milk Dipper. Like Barom 1 mention only the exterior is on location like Bistro La Salle, Keitaro's Laundromat and Shoichi's front yard. And all the Rider show since Kuuga were film on the streets, so its NOTHING NEW there. If you have watch Kuuga they barely re-use any of the locations while shows after it continuously used the same locales.

All the filming budget you mention is identical to previous years and nothing new has been done in Den-o so I assume they aren't spending anything more compared to the past 8 shows.

Hell, if it takes 2 hours to do hair and make up for U-Ryoutarou, you gotta factor the money being spent on that location that's lost, and times that when he switches an imagine... its a lot (let's say if he switches from Ura to Momo, that's four hours alone in hair and makeup, which is a half a day of shooting lost since Takeru said shooting begins at 5 in the morning

I doubt that takes four hours. He only changes his hair around a bit and wear colour contacts. If it only takes Jim Carrey to change into the Grinch in around 8 hours, its hard to believe Takeru has to spend six hours to go from Momo, Ura and Kin. If so, that is one slow ass make up crew.

I believe it takes more time to change forms than from different Imagin. Changing Form requires the suit actor to change his suit. They have to remove their entire suit and wear a new suit and stand back at the same position. It sounds more time consuming then gelling hair up. There was a scene in Kabuto where Tendou and Kagami henshins, cast off, and Kabuto changes into Hyper Form all in one shot. Its done in sequential order and you can cleary see the sun hasn't gone down by the end of the shot. It probably takes 30 minutes to do a form changing shot and probably takes 10-20 minutes for Ryotaro to get make up done for each Imagin.

The show is, I think, more costly than Kabuto or any other show for that matter.

I don't see how that can be true. Den-o has way fewer monsters and rider suits compared to Kabuto when it was around episode 13. While everything else is around the same, the number of cast, the sound stages, the CGI etc.

Argh, I can't read any of these posts.

:(

I still need to get from Episode 8 to 14...<_<

I'm hoping it got better or stayed the same.

And to the equation, Kabuto's worms were damn tired after two weeks. :(

Clearly you're talking out your ass in this entire post.

Five Rider suits in Den-o, 15 Rider Suits in Kabuto (counting Masked Form and Rider forms. From this rate, Den-o will probably have less than 25 Imagin (monster suits). There are four active rider suits in Den O, Two confirmed forms for the second rider, and a possible combined form, which means that there are seven "riders" in Den O. Get your facts straight.

In Kabuto, there was only... 8 riders, if you want to get technical with the whole stupid masked form, then that'd be fourteen forms. How do you know that Den O will have less than 25 imagines if we're only 14 episodes in? What makes you think they won't have multiple imagines in a show? Did you ever include the four that we have already as main characters?

Natives were no different than a worm. All they did was make a few suits and reused them constantly in the show. They did not make a new suit for every few episodes.

You must not watched Den O because the CGI in Den O looks WAY better than Hibiki. Ever watched Kabuto on your TV, clock up isn't as flashy as you thought.

They could hardly develop the villains personailty in two episodes. The only thing that actually do is have someone voice them. Its no doubt Den-o has a lower budget than Kabuto which might mean 2008 rider show will even have a lower one.

So you mean to tell me that paying a voice actor to come in a voice an imagine for two episodes means that Den O has a lower budget than Kabuto?

Kabuto could BARELY develope a villian personality. I doubt anyone on these forms can remember all the worms in the damned show and tell you their motifs or what they were there for. They were all flat and did the same thing: Attack Kabuto.

You are assuming things, the budget is based off of ratings. Did you know Kabuto was the lowest rated rider... EVER? Yeah, it was.

I assume it they will cost around the same unless you have some figures to prove me wrong. I also know that animators can perform more than one job. They can do more than just design a 3D monster, they also do the green/blue screen effect as well as henshin and form changing effects. While monster suit makers probably just make monster suits all day.

Did you just copy and paste what Barom1 said?

I doubt a suit creator makes a shows worth of monsters in one day. You're just coming up with nonsense.

The show has been filmed in HD for a while. So they aren't using new cameras. I think it has been in HD since Kuuga.

I LOL'D.

Letterbox doesn't mean HD! Kabuto was the first Kamen Rider to be filmed in HD. HAHA.

Almost all the Rider shows have two stages. Kabuto had Tendou's House and Bistro La Salle, as well as the Zect Van. Hibiki had Asumu's house and Takeshi's base. I can go on. Those are called locations. What are you trying to say here?

All the filming budget you mention is identical to previous years and nothing new has been done in Den-o so I assume they aren't spending anything more compared to the past 8 shows.

Maybe, maybe not. You don't know, we're only 14 episodes in.

I guess you failed to read the Toei website where it said it takes 2 hours of makeup. Also Takeru mentioned it on his blog. They have to style his hair a certain way, and they actually have to APPLY make up to his face and put contacts in. You think that's easy? 2 hours in hair/makeup/costuming is NORMAL.

You sure use Kabuto a lot. You don't think I've watched Kabuto? I think I have.

Again, its not that easy to go through a suit change, tell the guy to stand in a spot. It takes time and effort to do it, and it has to be sequential to the last shot. Did you ever watch the making of the Kabuto movie? It took Yuuki Sato (Kagami) nearly 10 cuts to properly "henshin" for his transformation sequence, which took MORE than 30 minutes. Get your facts straight again.

I don't see how that can be true. Den-o has way fewer monsters and rider suits compared to Kabuto when it was around episode 13. While everything else is around the same, the number of cast, the sound stages, the CGI etc.

Den O hasn't even reached the half way point. Stop sounding like a Kabuto fanboy and get your facts straight.

ok one you cant ell how many imagine the show will have OR where the show will go, were still in the get to know all the main characters phase.

Two How many of those Molted worms had actual storyline or voices you can count them on your hand. and Cassisworm only counts once.

alot of em were barley different they looked like the same base with small changes. and the Zect troopers 2 colors don't count, is not hard to repaint.

the think is Den-O has more storyline and has to pay more money for voice actors cause of the fact every imagine has had a well established Voice actor.

Can anyone tell me if Ryotaro's confidence grows during...the last, well it seems like 40 weeks ago, but from the last five or so episodes? Or does he just turn insane?

He's grown a lot, he's not nearly as timid as he was in the first episode, but he still has a while to go.

That's good.

It does seem like for some reason Den-O is more development and slower (which I love) over Kabuto which seemed would be on Episode 40 at the moment while Den-O is at 15?

Would you say that Den-O has completely blown away the first quarter of Kabuto?

I liked Kabuto's first 15 episodes, it just doesn't seem like anything went 'wow' or was that great against some great things like Ryuu and Ura seem to be.

And we still get a second Rider, which will shake the stuff up even more.

Well, for me, most of the first 22 episodes of Kabuto are some of the best I've ever seen, so compared to those great ones, Kabuto is doing better, but compared to anything after that? Yeah, Den-O is so much better, which is why I have so much more hope for it as a whole. Kabuto started out so great and was golden for so long that it eventually fizzled before we were even halfway done with the series. Den-O is going steady in terms of stories, it's somewhat episodic, but it's being done in a way that I find appealing. Also, when Den-O's good, it's good, there really hasn't been any episode in Den-O to disappoint me thus far. If this makes any sense, as a whole, Kabuto felt it wanted to be too self important, Den-O on the other is like the "quite" great series so far. It's great in a lot of its stories and doesn't try to be as flashy as Kabuto.
