Do they ever explain the sign that the Unknowns do just before a kill?

I don't think they explain it in the show but they did on the website or in the books about it. Don't quote me on that though.

My impression is that it's sort of like the Catholic thing of drawing the cross over yourself with a gesture of your hand.

You are correct. They do explain on a website - Cruel Angels does.

Straight up, G4 was the best of the New Gen Rider movies. It fucking rocked.

The part where Shoichi's unable to punch that evil god guy at first, but then Hikawa-san unloads his BFG allowing for Sho to slip thorugh with a right cross was AWESOME!!!!!!! :buttrock: :buttrock: :buttrock:

Hmmm, having seen the first 9 episodes, I'm just giving my two cents about the fight scenes. What I kind of realized is that fights for riders Ryuki onward is more anime-like, with movements exaggerated more from the camera angle rather than the movement of the suits themselves. I personally find them more entertaining that the agito ones, but of course it may the the bad video quality I'm getting, since I loved Kuuga back when it ran on tv. I have yet to get my hands on a good subbed episodes X_X but I like what I'm seeing so far =)
