Amen. Watching the newer stuff, I get pretty bored around the time when it comes to fighting. But like, actual, choreographed fighting, I just sit there in awe thinking, "yeah, that's why I started watching this." Only if my Gransazer downloads would finish. >_<

Hey, considering most of the stuff I watch is Toei's, I'm partial to JAE too, but I think Seishin has done pretty well for themselves.

The over-dependence on (poorly done) wire-work, the terrible suit acting (nodding along to every single syllable), the out of place *WHOOSH* for every single sound effect...

To be honest, the Seishin series as a whole reminds me a lot of PR, with the cast who seem to not want to be there, the action reasons stated and just the general low production values. The only thing missing is wholesome, safe storylines.

But the Seishin shows didn't reach the ludicrous levels of The First. Absolutely hideous.

Ironically, I was rewatching GS yesterday and tried to see things from Shoug's point of view. I have to admit, there are certain things I haven't seen before. Probably because I was focused on the story more.

The wirework or that slowed-down "Yes, they do go WHOOSH" is clunky. Some of the wirework you can TELL it goes weird. The camera angles get wonky when they do wirework. HAHA, they do nod to almost everything. I never noticed that. I wonder if it's also because of their helmets. Their designs are kinda all really pointy or have some area where your attn is focused. ::shrugs::

Still, I'm reminded again how superbly athletic and wicked fast they are in their choreographed sequences. I've mentioned this before, but even their fights with the grunts don't let up.

I'd have to respectfully disagree about the storylines though. I still think that was one of the better writings I've seen. I dunno, the actors seemed to put some heart into it, some more than others, I admit.

Watching Episode 5 now and I'm definately digging this. Video standard used took 3 or so episodes to get used to, but I'm definately glad someone put this DVD collection together.

Lotta interesting stuff going on.... fights are sluggish at best.... special effects are pretty low quality, but all in all you can see it's put together with purpose.

Ryou... Kamen Rider Gills, I'm guessing, is just about the ugliest Japanese guy I have ever seen. God.... Just looking at that guy puts me off.

Shouichi's quite the simplton/goof, I'm surprised he's a favorite. He reminds me of Shinji, to which I know I'll prolly hear a avalanche of, "That doesn't make any sense, Shinji sucks and is ****!" but whatever.. they seem like brothers seperated at birth to me. Hikawa.... I feel like I've seen him somewhere before. I think he looks a little like Lawyer Bagon.

'Nother thing I like what I see here is it seems like three different Kamen Rider series just happened to cross pathes here. Unlike with all the others I've seen each of these Riders seem to have a seperate origin on their suits and just seemed to cross pathes in fighting the same monsters.

I thought Gills had the worse suit of the bunch, but having seen him this episode I dig his the most. Reminds me of Kamen Rider Black. But the actor that plays him.... his face and haircut really make me wish they'd found someone else cuz I can't stand looking at this guy.

And what is the deal with this Satan child straight out of Omen. Should be interesting to see how that plays out.

Great series. Glad it got pointed out. Now if only my computer was working so I could enjoy me some Kabuto with my Agito.

Anyways, Shoichi is great because he's always really pleasant and positive, plus he can cook, clean, fight, and is good with children. Shinji was more of a dumbass; a funny, cool to hang out with dumbass, but still a dumbass, and that put people off.

Shouichi's definately likeable, but not at all what I was expecting from all the praise I heard. I thought he was going to be like KR Black in personality and be all big brother hero type than the simple minded happy go lucky guy we get.

Time to go watch more episodes....
