Kamen Rider Agito - Talk Up!

...that's basically what I had to do with my friend. Tried to get him into Agito and Kuuga, but he didn't really like them, he saw the Kabuto OP, started watching the show, then saw all of Blade, then saw Garo and Kuuga...then Agito, Nexus and other toku. So yeah, building people up to better toku is usually the easy way.

I need to see Kuuga. I remember asking a question about that show and then people started saying that it was an okay show, but Agito was much more awesome. I really think that's where all the Agito mentioning came from.

*waits for someone to come in and comment on the fact that someone couldn't get into Agito but got into Kabuto*

Agito was the easiest to get into, at least for my 13-year old self way back when. It made my week everytime a new episode came out. (It also killed my week everytime I got disconnected from a peer. *evil* dial-up.)

And like everyone has said, it is the show you'd want to show your friends. I *heart* it. I'm going to have to order the dvds this weekend. :thumbs:

It doesn't though. Go pick up a Sony HandiCam and shoot your own Agito and see which one looks better. I'm sorry, but that statement makes me think you've never even seen MiniDV footage or something. I don't know if you realize this, but film is extraordinarily expensive; having all the calculations of having a certain number of feet and reels to shoot on, having to transfer to edit and having to splice-edit while you're doing it, worrying about overexposure or cross-exposure, not to mention the ridiculous amount of money it costs to get film processed and mastered... it's just easier to go digital. It might not look like the humongoid-budget US shows you're used to, but it's easier and it's the best they could do with their very limited resources at the time.

Uhh... I know that. Once again I'm not slamming the show and there's no need to defend it. While an exaggeration, it's an observation is all... just not fond of it, but I know it's necessary. Doesn't effect my overall enjoyment too much, but it's noticable... not that I care.

My observations of only two episodes aren't he kind you'll see in other show thread where people waltz in, dismiss it all and call everything crap to put its fans on the defensive for my amusement. You don't really need to defend it, because I'm not trying to insult it.

I heard Agito was that kind of show.

Mayve if your friends are cool like us, but while my friends are down with the geekness, most would give it a derisive snort and a laugh without trying to see the story or world within.

More recent shows like GARO, Kabuto and Sh15uya fair better with the muggle audience. But for folk like us, it's more than likely you're going to have yourself a damn good time.

It is; I'm not sure what Keith thinks Tokusatsu is, but Agito is really about as good as it gets.

No idea what you're trying to say here as I haven't said anything on whether or not Agito is good or not.

Regarding the image quality, how did you watch it JC? Was it the official Toei DVD release; an HK bootleg or a DivX encode? It could be because of the format and carrier that the image didn't look so good.

I must be saying it wrong.

The image quality is prestine and perfect. Absolutely nothing wrong with it.

It's just what's called the MiniDV versus film or whatever kind of cameras they're using since Ryuki and up. That's all. Its crisp look is only a tad jarring, but really just an observation that I'm pretty sure I can get used to pretty quickly.

One should respect the Agito. Not only is its story golden, but it did so well that it allowed for your Ryuki and whatever to have their bloated budgets and be filmed in the pretentious manner it was. Agito didn't have that luxury, while Kuuga performed well, the idea of Kamen Rider's rebirth at the time Agito came on was still pretty uncertain. It's called the "RX Syndrome," where the follow-up could possibly beef it so badly that the successful one that preceded it even suffers.

I do recall those earlier episodes to be filmed in a "cheaper" way, but I do think Agito's visual style evolves. Besides the reason I stated, I think it might have something to do with the fact that Agito started off as a follow-up (of sorts) to Kuuga. It abandons that and becomes its own being -- thankfully, because as cool as Kuuga was, Agito soars to places that Kuuga never possibly could. To be honest, I don't even really see how you think Ryuki or Faiz was filmed in a superior manner -- they're not like Kuuga, obviously, but I don't think they were done very well. Early Ryuki, maybe, but later episodes looked like schlock to me.

Ah OK, I see now.
Hmm, I seem to recall that ever since KR Blade, they started using digital camera's that offer higher resolution and cost quite a bit more than traditional film camera's. I think Agito and Ryuki must have been filmed with the same kind of camera, but I could be wrong

For about... the seventh time now, I'm not knocking Agito's overall quality or story even. I've seen two episodes.. wait... maybe only one. Only thing I've commented on is the style of camera used which is just not as liked by me as what's been in series since.... and for maybe the eighth time it's not a big deal.. just and observation.

I don't think I've said Ryuki or Faiz were filmed in a superior manner. I just said how I liked what camera they used and special effects better. But again... minor observations at best from just one episode.

You guys don't need to defend, cuz I'm not insulting. You might think I wanna take apart your favorite show like some people do to other people's favorite shows, but I've no intention of that. I'm looking forward to enjoying it. Just gotta find the time to watch it.
