Tendou himself is a bit of a Shouichi rip-off, if you ask me. This perfect guy who can do it all, Zen-like, knows their cookin'...it just seems that the writers were like, "Hmm...what if Shouichi had a stick up his ass!?!" And Tendou was born...

eh--- just because Tendou knows how to do-it-all liek Shouchi doesn't mean he's a rip-off. I mean... Taylor Florence knows how to cook and pay the bills like Emeril or Bobby Flay... but does that make him a rip-off? no.

I really don't think that Toei's writers purposefully rip off their own characters. It's not like the genre is horribly expansive; of course some characters (especially leads) are going to share similar attributes.

I dunno...Shouichi was more the Zen-like character IMO. If Tendou were TRULY a Zen-like character, for one - he'd lose that 'tude of his. Second, I highly doubt he'd be "I am the Chosen, etc. blahblah." That's "striving" which is a big no-no in Zen Buddhism.

And you know, I HAVE wondered what a Shouichi with a "stick up his ass" would be like, but then he wouldn't be Shouichi anymore. And Shouichi wasn't able to do everything...He wasn't able to play tennis with a racket...:laugh: Nor manage to mash strawberries in milk when sick...:anime:

Zen-like, I think this is the perfect way to describe Shouichi.

:eyebrow: One has to wonder, since agito was hands down the highest rated new gen series, if they wouldn't purposly rip off some things from it.
