What. The. ****.
2007's a good year for both Sentai and KR.
My god. I get back from Tokyo with my new Gekichangers and Gekitonfas, sit down for the 2 new eps of Geki, and get blown away by their sheer awesomeness. What. The. ****. Seriously.
First. The cinematics are getting better. Fight scenes are so much more dramatic. The rangers' entrance in 16 against the black sky followed by the robo battle in the city against the night sky was a visual feast.
Second. Mele is one good actress. Her voice is freaking versatile. One minute she can be all high pitched and the next her yells chill my spine in a good way. Wow. She meant business with Shafu.
Third. Wow. Awesome plot development. We're only 16 eps in and Geki has more plot than Bouken could ever hope to have. The backstory of the Rinjyuden and Beast Arts was excellent; it surprised me far beyond my expectations. Mele and Rio's blooming love story was one of the best moments of 16, especially his hug. <3
Fourth. The rangers are improving. Fast. The villians this year are providing motivation for our rangers to train harder, which is awesome. At least we get to see the rangers improve. Last year, the Boukengers barely improved in their skills and development, which was a bummer. I seriously look forward to the Gekirangers' growth.
Fifth. Fight scenes are way better than when we first began. While in the past the CGI attacks felt stupid, Rio's new attack in 16 was sweet. I notice that there is also more contact fighting now of the DBZ and Hong Kong Martial Arts movie type, which is great. Say goodbye to gymnastic style fighting and all their flashy somersaults (ugh). Say hello to proper fistfights where you can actually see and feel the impact (Jet Li style). :buttrock:
I love Sentai. And I'm gonna get more toys after I review the changer. Just as a side note, in my humble opinion, the changer owns the Den-O belt in playability.
