Lionsgate has released the first trailer for From The World Of John Wick: Ballerina, or John Wick: Ballerina. Most people will probably just call it Ballerina, but risk-averse Hollywood really really wants you to know it’s connected to a thing you’re already familiar with. In John Wick 3: Parabellum, there’s a scene where Wick meets Eve Macarro, a professional ballerina dancer who’s training to become an assassin like him. While a cameo from Keanu Reeves will be in the movie, along with appearances from other John Wick characters, Ballerina is all Eve’s story. You’ll find out her motive (revenge for the death of her father) and how she plans to do it (track down the criminal with a specific tattoo). The original appearance of Eve was played by someone different, but Ana de Armas (Knives Out) will assume the role in her first feature. Who would’ve thought that the death of a dog would be the catalyst for an entire action movie franchise that’s spawned multiple sequels and now a spin-off? It’s crazy when you think about it—what started as a simple revenge story has grown into this massive, intricate universe filled with secret societies, highly-trained assassins, and a set of unique rules. And now with Ballerina, we’re expanding even further! It’s impressive how they’ve managed to take such a small, personal moment from John Wick’s life and turn it into a sprawling action franchise. From avenging a pet to this epic world of characters—it’s kind of genius.

Is the Ballerina gonna fight or collab with John Wick eventually? I mean, they live in the same universe, right? I’ve been wondering the same thing ever since I heard about this movie. It’s a cool concept to have Eve Macarro’s story take place within the same timeline as John Wick: Parabellum, but does that mean we’ll see her cross paths with him in a big way? Sure, there’s that cameo from Keanu Reeves, but is it just a brief interaction, or will their stories become more intertwined as the Ballerina series (if they make more) goes on?

Considering how skilled both characters are, it could go either way. They could team up against a bigger threat, which would be epic to watch, or maybe they’ll end up on opposite sides at some point, which would be an insane battle. Either option has a ton of potential, especially with the way the John Wick universe tends to weave characters in and out of the story. I’m hoping we get a solid answer, but if not in Ballerina, maybe in a future installment. It feels like there’s way too much potential here to just leave it hanging, you know

Look, I’m interested, but I ain’t gonna lie—I’m a little cautious here. The John Wick stuff has been solid, but when you start branching out, sometimes things lose their spark, you feel me? Now, don’t get me wrong—Ana de Armas? She’s the real deal. And a revenge story? Yeah, that’s got potential. But it’s all gonna come down to how tight they keep this thing. If the story’s sharp and the action hits like it should, we could have somethin’ good on our hands. I ain’t holdin’ my breath, but I’m keepin’ an eye on it. We’ll see.

I’m really loving how Ballerina is shaping up! It’s about time we get a strong female lead in the John Wick universe, and Ana de Armas is perfect for the role. The trailer gave me just enough to get excited without giving away the whole story, which is a plus. I’m definitely marking my calendar for this one

I like Ana de Armas, and the John Wick series is cool and all, but I don’t know if I’m sold on this one. The trailer looked fine, but is a whole movie really necessary? It feels like they’re stretching the universe a bit thin. I’ll probably watch it eventually, but not in theaters

I have to say this trailer impressed me. The choreography looks tight, and Ana de Armas brings a level of intensity that could make this stand out. It’s hard to create compelling action spin-offs, but I see potential here.

Keanu’s definitely only in one scene, but they’re going to milk that one moment for all it’s worth! I can already see them using his face all over the promotional materials just to get people in the seats. It makes sense, though—he’s a huge draw. But let’s be real, this is Eve’s story, not John’s.

If you pay attention to the trailer, you’ll notice something interesting. This actually takes place during the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum. One dead giveaway is the cuts on John’s face in the scene where he’s talking to Eve. They match up perfectly with the wounds he had in Parabellum during his visit to Angelica Huston’s character. In fact, if you look closely, there’s a scene in the trailer where John is standing with Angelica Huston’s character, the Director, and that’s literally a replay of a moment from John Wick 3, but from a totally new angle. It’s pretty clever, actually—almost like we’re seeing what else was happening while John was off doing his thing in the same timeline.

I’m guessing that the film will weave its own narrative in and out of the events of Parabellum, and that’s a cool idea in itself. But yeah, don’t be fooled into thinking Keanu’s going to have a big role here. They’ll probably pump his scene up to make it seem like he’s all over the movie, when in reality, it’ll just be a quick cameo. Still, it’s a smart move to hook audiences with his appearance, even if the main focus will be Eve and her revenge mission.
