will, mma could takeover boxing because they are now on fox and have more exposure. plus, mma can easily make the fights fans want to see, etc. in boxing, the big fight would be pacquiao vs mayweather and its been a hard thing to get together due to countless reasons and we dont even know the core one. mma in america is mostly under the control of zuffa so making those exciting match ups without the politics. plus, in boxing, it takes a long time to build a ppv, while in ufc, they can easily get matches ready.
but mma at the moment has more marketable stars than boxing and they know how to advertise all their weightclasses. in boxing, its mostly about the bigger guys and the heavyweight division in boxing sucks, but mma has done an excellent job in showcasing that the smaller fighters put on way more exciting fights. yeah, boxing has got pacquiao, who is a god in the philippines, but he's not appearing in nike and mcdonalds commercials in the us.
but its not just mma, but even in boxing, the smaller weightclasses have very exciting fights and spectacular athletes like nonito donaire
as for career longevity, not just in mma, but also in boxing, some careers dont last long. the physical demand is one thing, but also because of the money. the ufc champions are not making the same money as mayweather and pacquiao but the undercard ufc fighters get paid more money than the undercard boxers on hbo or on espn. in the fight game, you dont get the really big money unless you become the world champion, but after taxes, promoter fees, sanctioning fees, trainer fees and all that, the money isnt all that much compared to football and basketball.
but as far as i know, austin st john is not at all fighting a professional nor have i seen any interview claiming thhe stuff that jason frank claimed to say that he did. maybe jason frank is ribbing us. i heard jason frank likes to mess around himself. im surprised he didnt mention that austin was accused of doing gay porn.
but austin st john becomig an emt is really great in the same way being an mma fighter is. but i know that he was best friends with thuy trang and walter jones, but id like to hear walters take on it since hes also friends with jason frank.
but instead of getting the austin st john fight, he could get the van damme fight, but he should fight kimbo slice or bob sapp instead.
