Japanese girl killed in Cult dowsing Ritual

I hope Japan will pass some laws to protect children from their parents if the government think their lives are in danger. Poor girl, may her soul rest in peace.

*sigh* This is why some region in this world are stupid. :nono:

Assuming he was referring to religion, I think it's important we dispel any ignorant biases or condemnations of other beliefs just because we don't understand them. It's probable that at least half of this forum identifies as Christian or some Judaic variant in their spiritual faith, and even in the more prevalent world faiths we find examples of people misunderstanding and corrupting the teachings of their faith and hurting others through misguided actions. This incident reminds of the countless reports we've heard of individuals who have been afflicted with some terminal illness or medicable condition but chose to pursue healing through prayer and religious assurance rather than doing the prudent thing and seeking medical attention and lost their lives as a result. This unfortunate tragedy is really no different. We don't have to bestow any credence on or even approve of the tenets of other faiths, especially twisted, exploitive fringe splinter-groups, but if we value our right to our own beliefs then we at least ought to respect their right to the same.

Are you saying we should respect those people who's religion states they should not take their children in for medical care?

Absolutely not. But I am saying that we should respect their right to hold whatever beliefs they feel are a part of their being, even if we don't agree or identify.
