The initial reactions to this series from myself and others is pretty legendary. But having been an Iron Man fan, I saw this series out of curiosity.
Having seen the first three episodes, I have to say, the series has more potential than is realized.
Obviously, the mythos of Iron Man are totally altered here to "connect" with its target audience, because they don't seem to accept grown-up characters; Tony Stark (now a high-school student; he still invents the Iron Man suit), Jim Rhodes (Tony's best friend), Pepper Potts (now a sassy student reporter), "Happy" Hogan (a jock), Gene Khan (a classmate of Tony's), and other characters, are made into teenagers. (Obadiah Stane is still an adult, thank God!) So it's somewhat more like Danny Phantom than Iron Man. At this rate, it makes me wonder if they'll do Tony's legendary addiction story arc (and if so, how?). Someone suggested Capri Suns...
But I really like the animation, designs (especially the elaborate city sets, and the villains in the latest episode!), and action! They are very well done. Iron Man looks impressive, as does the Mazinger-like Mandarin! It's even better, IMHO, than MTV's Spider-Man the Animated Series. (That was done in Canada, with US voices; this series is done in France, with Canadian voices.) The potential is there, more in the visuals and the action.
