Inoue's Feelings On W?

This is the novel in question.

The novel does exist, but it was never proven that it does contain any rape, pregnancy and maimings. This rumor was started on 4chan months ago by an anonymous poster claiming to have read it, but as soon as people started to call bs and ask for evidence, he refused to provide scans, photos or excerpts from the pages where those things would happen, and then just stopped replying. Chances are this whole thing is just ellaborate trolling that got out of hand because some people in the thread were gullible enough to spread the rumors further without checking their sources.

Strange. I could have sworn that someone, at some point, did provide evidence that the scenes in question did in fact exist.

I'll grant I could be wrong about said confirmation (my memory gets fuzzy that way sometimes) but that combined with the fact it seem like something Inoue would really do if he were not held back, inclines me to believe that stuff is in there.

Really it seems along the same lines as how much more... special, the novel versions of Mobile Suit Gundam is compared to the TV show.

That doesn't seem like the sort of thing Toei would ever let be related to their properties, even if the books aren't as strict about what can be done, some of the stuff I've heard about it just seems ridiculous and makes me think it's the sort of thing that would have caused quite the uproar.

I mean, really, the PTA got in an uproar over some of the stuff in Hibiki, I don't think the things in those rumors would ever be allowed into Kamen Rider in any form.

I was in the thread when it happened, and no evidence was posted whatsoever. No evidence has been posted at all since then, except for more threads with anonymous saying "guys I read it too it's true", with no evidence of it themselves.

As for it being something Inoue would do if unrestricted, this is just my personal opinion, but people overestimate Inoue's penchant for melodrama. Inoue is not a super messed up Anno Hideaki set out to traumatize viewers, his idea of drama is rather on the cheap soap-opera side. And as Ryoutarou says, even if Inoue did secretly wish to write a special version of his series like that, I highly doubt Toei would allow the things that have been claimed about this novel to be published with the Kamen Rider name associated to it. Really, if parent complaints could have an attack written out of the show, do you seriously think Toei selling an official novel where the main heroine is raped by a Kamen Rider would just go under the radar?

Anyway, I wouldn't mind at all being proved wrong if someone can actually come up with those scans/photos one day. But I'm sorry, until actual evidence is provided, this whole thing is just trolling.

Yeah, but see, the thing there is, as odd and out of place the ideas sound in Kamen Rider, everything but the hamburger beating IS cheap soap-opera fare.

(And even said beating is not impossible, though a soap opera would imply it happening off-camera.)

Well, to use Gundam again as an example, the novelizations of the original series and even the recent novelizations of Gundam 00 added much more questionable content than the TV series itself would have ever been able to allow, so this kind of thing is certainly not unheard of.

It's certainly possible that novelizations of TV shows and what-not are expected to dip into territories that would not be possible with TV censoring in place and so the existence of edgier material in them would not be as uproar inducing as one would expect.

The thing with the novelizations of the big kid-friendly genres is that, like... nobody seems to pay attention to them, or at least it's expected that only adult fans are reading them. There is a long tradition of completely wacky sexual **** including rape plots in a lot of the Gundam novels, even the ones spinning off of series that Sunrise will say are targeted at elementary school kids or whatever.

Parents groups don't seem to complain about this sort of stuff because the novels aren't marketed to children in any way, they're almost always for a slightly older demographic than whoever is watching the show. I've certainly seen Gundam get dinged by parents' groups for the sorts of things it's willing to depict on TV, too, it just seems to be the "on TV" that they get concerned about.

It is extremely likely that if someone wanted to make up stuff about the Faiz novel to troll /m/ with, he'd take advantage of what is long-confirmed knowledge about what kind of grim bullshit goes down in Gundam novels. I would agree this is the sort of claim that needs to be substantiated with scans, translations, or references to it from the Japanese side of fandom. Other anime novelizations I've seen are a lot tamer than Gundam's tend to be.

(That said, Faiz in particular was such a Gundam-like show in its story aspects that I don't find it entirely unbelievable Inoue would end up writing a Faiz novel for adults that went off to crazyland. Tomino's novels about Gundam are absolutely nothing like his TV scripts for Gundam, in terms of tone or style of the writing-- or, well, not being utterly fucking ridiculous. Tomino's novels are available in English, too, so all his bizarre plots about pilots needing magic amulets made of pubic hair are very easily confirmable.)
