Crunchyroll just sent us a note informing us the medieval reincarnation anime I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince has begun its second season. The full title is I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince so I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability, but since we don’t want to be out of breath by the time we end this newspost, we’re going to shorten it by half. I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince takes place in a world full of magic, but getting to use it requires a lot of studying AND being genetically lucky enough to be born in a magically inclined bloodline. One sorcerer has a passion for magic but never had the aptitude for it nor the genes to be truly powerful. But as luck would have it, in his next life he has become Lloyd, the seventh prince of the Kingdom of Saloum. He has all his previous memories AND a strong magical bloodline, giving him a super head start. The anime goes on from there. The previous season of I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince was 12 episodes long, and episode 13, I’ll Join the Church! premiered last Wednesday. In the episode, Lloyd’s […]

I followed the first season pretty closely and appreciated how it focused on the actual discipline of learning magic, not just flashy fights. The idea that Lloyd carries over his past life’s passion makes the story meaningful to me. I like that his growth is more about study and dedication than just natural-born power, even though he has the bloodline now. I'm really curious about how the divine sorcery element will change the tone. It could introduce some good philosophical conflict if it's handled with care. Crunchyroll adding more languages in Season 1 also shows they are committed to the show's reach. Hoping the dub doesn’t take too long this time.

I'm glad Season 2 is here. I enjoyed watching Lloyd be a total magic nerd last season. He’s not like other isekai leads who act too cool or too dumb. He’s focused, but still fun. I think divine magic could be interesting if it doesn’t get too serious. I’m also looking forward to the new characters, especially Escher. She looks cool in the teaser. I wish Crunchyroll would release the dub at the same time though. Waiting always sucks.

From a worldbuilding perspective, this anime continues to impress me. The concept of combining reincarnation with a strict magical caste system creates strong internal logic. Now that Lloyd is looking into divine sorcery, it might suggest a higher hierarchy of magic in the universe. That opens up so many narrative directions—divine vs demonic, inherited power vs earned power, and so on. I’m particularly interested in how these new characters, Escher and Saria, will influence Lloyd’s goals. Will they be allies, rivals, or moral obstacles? And I have to say, Makoto Koichi’s performance as Lloyd was a standout last season. I hope she continues to deliver in Season 2.

It’s not bad, but honestly, it feels like every isekai now starts with the same formula: reincarnation, overpowered main character, and some kind of royalty status. What makes this one a bit different is the focus on studying and research. That’s more realistic, I guess. I just hope they don’t waste too much time showing off how smart Lloyd is. He already knows everything, right? So where’s the tension?

When I watched Season 1, I connected with Lloyd so much. I know what it feels like to want something badly but not be born with the right talents. Seeing him get a second chance gave me hope. He worked so hard and finally got the life he deserved. I’m excited for the divine magic arc, but I hope it keeps the same heart. I don’t want the show to become just another fight anime. I want to keep seeing Lloyd’s love for learning shine through.

I find the idea of being reincarnated as a prince with magical powers interesting, but I hope the story does not fall into common clichés. Sometimes these series focus too much on the main character being perfect because of his abilities. I want to see him struggle realistically and face challenges that test both his magic and personality. The fact that he remembers his past life could add a nice twist if used well, especially if he tries to fix past mistakes. It’s good to know the anime has a new season and some new voice actors joining. I hope the pacing stays balanced and the story gives enough time for character development. I will watch the first few episodes and decide if it is worth continuing.

Honestly, I’m a bit tired of reincarnation anime, but this one looks different because the main character has a more patient goal. The title says he wants to take his time perfecting magic, which means it might be slower and more focused on learning and strategy rather than nonstop action. I think this kind of story can be very relaxing and educational if done right. The fact that the protagonist uses his past memories to improve is a good plot device. Also, I like that the episodes come out weekly on Crunchyroll. It helps keep interest over time. I will give season two a chance, especially to see how divine sorcery is explored.
