I think I'm having a weird mid-life break down...

Seriously though, you don't think this is a bit much? His arms... are pineapples.

If it makes you feel better, he uses a pineapple flail, and bashes the (metal)pineapple at stuff. And the armor is a lot better then what I would have imagined. The design team is still putting their all in what they were given, and I respect them for that and I can't hate the designs. If there's anyone I'm mad at, it's Bandai shouting "Fruits!" at the staff and walking out of the boardroom.

Honestly though, I won't fault you if fruit warriors is too much for you. Maybe wait until episode 10 and sit through it to see if it can hook you with the story?

As long as you hated Fourze, we're cool. If not, you have to get the entire **** out of here. You sat here and watched a man walk around with a fucking rocket on his head, with all of the switches mismatched in terms of where they SHOULD'VE fucking been (chain saw on his leg, a fucking inkbrush too but it was an inkbrush so meh), and that was cool. But this bothers you? THIS?

And need I remind you, the original Kamen Rider? A fucking grasshopper. The second most benign insect in existence behind the ladybug. On a scale of 1 to "Are you kidding me?", the Kamen Rider Franchise has already seen much worse.

Believe me, I've still got a ton of fruit jokes to make about Kamen Rider Starburst and how his show is a vital part of a balanced breakfast, but the first episode just wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. And it was leaps and bounds ahead of every other Post-Decade series besides W. Though unlike the rest of this site, I liked Wizard so its got a ways to go before it proves it can knock that series off its high horse.

Only thing I bloody want out of this series, is ONE SCENE, at least ONE SCENE, in which a villain actually laughs at the fruity look of a Rider and that underestimation ends up being his/her doom. This way, at least it doesn't feel like they're trying to insult our intelligence.

In other words I want them to say ''They look silly, yes, but don't underestimate them because of this'', instead of ''Silly? They don't look silly at all! They look absolutely deadly!''
Kinda like that meme/trope: ''I'll take a potato chip and eat it!''

To SaikoDragon: I'm just curious, did you watch Fourze? Did you find anything in it unbearable? Did you watch Wizard? If so, what did you think of the Drivers' sounds? Have you seen Kyoryuger?

but it's not like they are fruit everywhere..
Oh, but they are. Have you looked at it? Have you seen those armors?

And so far, the show does take itself seriously, they've tried to make the fruit theme fit in with the mythology of the story. I'm sure you know of Urobuchi's reputation as an anime writer. The producer, director, etc. have all said that the fruit armour was imposed on them by Bandai but they're doing the best they can with it.

The design team is still putting their all in what they were given, and I respect them for that and I can't hate the designs. If there's anyone I'm mad at, it's Bandai shouting "Fruits!" at the staff and walking out of the boardroom.
Indeed. Bandai's fault. I lost respect for them while at the same time gained it for the staff: Takebe in particular. Great effort they're doing to pass off those gimmicks as believable.

I would say however that sometimes it's normal to grow out of things you used to enjoy. If you're having other symptoms of mid-life crisis (comb-over, desire to buy a motorbike, people start mistaking you for your father) maybe get those hormones checked out. Otherwise, don't worry about it
I'm 20 and I plan to ride a motorbike for the rest of my days. :loltongue:

I didn't say that. What I implied was that if he's looking for those, there are better alternatives in where to find it.
No offense, but if you really think this I don't know why you're still watching Toku (if you are).

Uh, I'm not sure what your analogy is supposed to mean here, considering that if you turn 360 degrees, you'd have done a full rotation, which means you end up facing the same direction as when you started.
Some Rider series have ended this way!

I'm going to say this in a similar way to how you did:
If you think this is ridiculous but don't find Spider-Man or even Batman the same, then get the entire **** out of here.

Funny, because that's the exact question I ask people who watch toku solely because of the "Badass fights and mature themes". I've found that usually if that's what you expect, you'll be in for a world of disappointment.

Anyway, my answer is: because it's not why I'm watching toku. I'm watching Toku for the camp and simple themes. And I'm rarely let down.

That's not me who posted that, but arachnophobia is one of the more common phobias, and the most commonly known bat is the vampire bat, a bane of most travellers. Also spiders are mostly carnivorous hunters, unlike a grasshopper.

But other than that, yes, that's actually what I think of Batman and Spiderman: Weird themes for a hero, but their viability as heroes depends entirely on how they're written. Same thing with Kamen Rider.

180 then, you know what I mean. :shakefist
Oh, okay.

Reminds me of Shotaro's "my hand is a cow!" Which isn't really a bad thing. If I can get some laughs out of this, that would still be okay.

There's also that juice bar place.

Spiders can kill you. Bats are creepy as ****. In fact, the Batman concept worked the most if I'm being completely honest. But nobody was scared of grasshoppers until Hongo Takeshi started high-kicking people in the face.

Perhaps in only looking only for camp and simpleness you missed how maturity and fighting are pretty much everywhere. Well... maybe not maturity. And now I talk only about japanese live-action superheroes and not Toku in general: Action is a huge part of it, and there is not a single show or movie without fights, that are meant to be epic and be one of the main appealing points for the audience. Fights are everywhere and of course, oftentimes they'll make a great effort with them. Hell, some times when there's a lack of story, that's all there is left.

Phobias. They are awful and can fill you with terrible despair. There can be people who have a phobia for grasshopers, don't count them out. Hell, there are several people with phobias against everything labelled an insect. You find bats creepy as ****, I don't. Bananas have potasium in them, and if you consume only that (potasium, not bananas) in a concentrated amount it's lethal.

This whole thing is a matter of one's own perspective which is why I believe you initially told SaikoDragon that in regards to the silliness of Fourze and why I told you this. Sure, everyone can have different tastes and views, but one should at least expect a consistency in them, right? Until you explained yourself and once again, it's not that you weren't consistent it's just that you have different viewpoints. You don't have to get the entire **** out of here.

But, again the perspective: It's two people whose body gets modified with the DNA of an insect. Just that sentence, nothing else, does that sound ridiculous to you? IDK it's your opinion. My Batman example was even pushing it because he's just a man dressing up.

But that's exactly it: I may get disappointed by the fighting and the maturity, but I will never get disappointed by a lack of camp or simplicity. Even shows that take themselves too seriously turn out funnier than expected just because of that.

Overall, it's a win-win for me.

I'unno, literally the only problem I have with the Gaim designs thus far is the yellow belt-strap. That's really all that's bothering me at all.
