The PS3 is a great system with great advantages to it. Including with it's high capability for High Performance game, it comes with a roster of practically exclusive games, fan favorites like the Final Fantasy series, whil they may one day be multi consoled, for now, it's an obvious PS3 exclusive, but then theres also another big recent fan favorite to come about within the past few years.
Kingdom Hearts. That's a big one to be on the PS3 and big enough to get a few whiny kids to convince their parents to buy one.
There's also the free online play and the fact it is a Blu-Ray player.
As for controller size, everyone is different, and while it may of been mean for Doggy Kruger to say it the way he did, he was right. Since when should one person care about the other people's gaming experience. If they say the controller is too small, fine, get a bigger controller. If they don't have one, fine, use an adapter and use the old PS2 controller. Not good enough? Complain to Sony and watch as Sony will sigh and huff and puff and blow out a new larger sized controller.
Don't think Sony will do it? Funny. Because enough people wanted the DualShock back, and the next PS3 bundle happens to have the new DualShock 3 with it.
Interesting.
Now yeah, the price is a bit much, but it's the price of the wanters not the needers. Nobody NEEDs a PS3. The only people buying a PS3 are the ones who can see the price as throwaway money or as money well spent.
The people who can't afford it or need to double check the price each time they go into a gamestore, shouldn't be getting one. The price will eventually drop as time goes on. Give it roughly two years. By then the price would of dropped significantly, AND a good extra rows of games will be on the shelves for people to spend their money on.
If you think that Sony should of done all that first, let me ask you. Are you a game programmer?
Do you know how hard it is to make a game on a new multimedia storage device?
ESPECIALLY when it's way more space then you are used to?
For a few years now, it's been all DVD. The latest thing to come out was the HD DVD and Blu-Ray, and even the HDDVD hasn't gotten any games released on their media disc. As it is right now, Blu-Ray has got a good foothold right now. And I don't think anyone has the right to judge SONY for their decision to utilize the best media storage device on the market to bring to us, the complaining assholes, the best they can get us.
It's gonna be a while untill the game developers can really churn out the games. Besides, even once you got the perfect strategy of building the game down, you still need to perfect the art and story of each game to make it worthy of that 60 dollar price tag. So shove off on the length it takes to make each game. Other wise you don't even deserve to play the game in the first place.
Now I know up to this point, if you've read all that, you must think I'm, a Sony lover. I'm not.
At this point in my gaming lifestyle, I'm a 360 kid. I love Gears, Halo3, and alot of the other 360 games. I also enjoy playing with my girlfriend's Wii.
I don't own either of the systems, but I've played them all.
Each system is a different experience. When you play their exclusive games, you get a different response and reaction to everything on the screen. It's amazing, the Heavenly Sword game on the PS3. It's incredible. The fluidity, the brutality, and the action. It's marvelous. I turned a few 360 fanboys into PS3 followers.
The Wii's motion sensor technology and their innovative gameplay is so breathtaking sometimes. It defintly sends alot of newbies who first try it into shock with how different it is to what their used to. Watching a young girl come in, look at the Wii with a puzzling look, and then grasp the dual controllers in her hands is worth looking like a freak. You can watch as she progressively increases in skill within the first five minutes. She'll point at the screen with the Wii-Mote, and to her surprise it's easy to manipulate the cursor, and how easy it is to play the Metroid game that's she has never played before.
Then there's the Xbox360. The system most people on this thread prolly have, or at least are fans of rather than the PS3.
I love it. To Death. It's cute, sexy, manly, yet sleek. The design is impressively slim and large at the same time. The easy syncing makes wireless multiplayer gaming a blast. My friends and I gather every week or so to huddle up in the basement with surround sound, a large BIG SCREEN HD TV and a nicely placed 360. We love it. It's a blast to blast away the opposing team, and capture the flag, and make with some frag. It's basically the "it" system for all that classic gaming feel.
But with each system there will always be downfalls, one way or another.
The PS3's pricing, and bad timing.
The Wii's lack of replability in most of their games(till SuperSmash :3 )
The 360's constant red ring problem.
Yet despite that. The PS3 sells. The 360 (non-elite) sells. The Wii sells.
(The reason I said non-elite is because currently, only the elite has no problem with a red ring. While it may suffer from the red ring lights, theres no stopping it from playing. the next few shipments and soforth of the regular premium will share the same setup for the inside also making it impervious to the old red ring problems)
And how do I know all this, the fact the people, the mass of people, love all three systems?
I sell them. Every week, I'm working, A GameStop employee. I make sure people are satisfied.
I used to think PS3 sucked. But I came to realize quickly, that it didn't suck. It was was just unlucky.
With upcoming games including the Eye Of Judgment and the Final Fantasy set, I think a PS3 is quite a worthy gaming experience.
