I need a little help on Baseball

Well, I'm always up to try new things and I was presented with an oppurenity to play baseball but I didn't have the balls to say that I don't know how to play baseball or how the game is played. So I need some help on how Baseball works and all that stuff.

Um, you have access to the internet clearly, so why not do some searches instead of asking of bunch of nerds of all people how to play? Not trying to be rude, just saying you'll have better luck elsewhere.

I would recommend reading the Wiki on it. And mention to them that you've never actually played. Lots of people have never played the game, but I can't say I've ever met someone who didn't at least have a vague idea of how it worked. Well, not in the US, anyway.

ummm if u need help on rules and stuff

i've played softball for many years and the rules are very similar
i also was a certified junior ASA umpire right after i graduated high school and umpired several of the little kiddies games :D ...soo yeah :D

there's technical stuff that differs between baseball and softball, such as the mound, and the length between the bases, as well as the type of bat allowed and such, however these also vary with the leagues and divisions within the sport as well, soooo i don't think they matter all that much in understanding the big picture :3

I did search about it and I was pretty much confused about it.

I know a little on Baseball but to know it enough that I can actually play is my issue.

Honestly, there's not much to it if you're just playing for one game. If you've seen at least one b-ball game on t.v. and somewhat paid attention, that should be enough to get you through it.

But I would be playing for more than one game. Of course I will do my homework but I just needed to know.

sooo do u have like a specific question regarding the game? or do u just want a digest? cuz the wiki would be best for a digest of how to play the game... but if you had a specific question i could help u out -_-

Alright, how does the Innings work? I've been pretty confused on that to start with. Normally, I'm use to the good ol' clock in NBA and NFL.

In baseball there is 9 innings. Each inning has a top and a bottom. The top of the inning is where the away team bats until 3 outs are made. The bottom of the inning is where the home team bats until 3 outs are made. It continues this way till the 9th where if the home team is winning, and 3 outs are made in the top half, the game is over. If the away team is winning, the home team bats in the bottom of the 9th to try to tie the game or win. If the game is tied after the 9th, it goes into extra inning.

Extra innings is where you play innings until someone scores a run or more. If the away team scores in the top half of an extra inning, the home team has the bottom half of that inning to score. If they don't, the game is over. If the home team breaks a tie in the bottom of an extra inning, they win. This is called a walk-off. There have been walk-off homeruns, 1b's, 2b's, 3b's, hit by pitchs, hell even a walk-off walk.

Anyway, hope that helped. And yes, I do play baseball. Back in high school and for fun.
