This is why I love the Internet...and fear it at the same time. I was looking through the nets for images of the Showa-era Riders since there weren't any pictures in most of the Wiki articles when I came across this one site known as Cyborg's Power Rangers. Now I noticed a few things here and there and then came across this multitude of galleries of all different types of sentai and riders, some canon, others completely made up. The gallery of a Mr. Sascha Amend got my attention with the creations he did with the canon characters, but he also made do a double take with the fan creations. Some were fantastic ideas that I could see being used post GekiRanger such as based on Atlantean culture. However there were quite many that also made me wonder just what had gone wrong in this poor soul's mind that he needed to do these fan creations to this extent in detail & back thought.
Now I know anime & toku are those type of infatuations that can go really south really quick. Doujins, fanpics, and many other media have been used to create extentions on shows or series that we thought deserved more and it makes me wonder: Just how far do you think someone should go with their love of toku or anime before it just gets to that point of "ok, I REALLY need to hit you for doing that." Lord knows I've dealt with quite a few of those individuals at cons & panels who I just wanted to haul off and beat the living crap out of. However I hold off...should I beat the snot out of them next time I go to a con and meet with "that guy" or "that gal" again? Should we as a group try to work on those of our comrades in the fringe areas who are getting too close to the deep end of the pool?
While you think of this, please go ahead and check out some of the galleries at that site. I think this is something that needs to be dealt with now before it gets out of hand...or do any of you think it's already reached the Point of No Return?
