Hexguardian Coming To Steam May 2

Developer Split Second Games and publisher Yogscast Games will soon present Hexguardian for PC. The game launches early next month. Hexguardian is best described as a tower defense game with a couple other genres mixed in. You start on a hexagon-shaped map, which can be expanded through earning more hexagon shapes to snap onto it. And you earn those by battling and defeating enemy forces that attack your fortress. Successful victories will earn you greater resources, which expand the size of your army and map, as well as the capabilities of the things you can build around your tower. There will be two ways to play Hexguardian: the first is the Standard Mode which sees you building out an endless hex fortress while unlocking new towers, units, upgrades, maps and difficulty settings as you advance. The other way to play is the Challenge Mode, where you’re given a scenario and limited resources to solve it. The challenge is different each week, and there will be a leaderboard for those who

Ooh, a new tower defense game with roguelike elements? Sign me up! I'm always down for a good challenge, especially one that unlocks new content as I progress. Endless mode for the long haul and weekly challenges for a quick fix? This game seems to have something for everyone. Hexguardian's combination of tower defense and map manipulation has me intrigued. The idea of building a sprawling hexagonal fortress and strategically placing towers and units sounds like a blast. Plus, the ability to learn spells and construct wonders adds a whole new dimension to the gameplay. I'm particularly excited about the environmental manipulation aspect – using the battlefield to my advantage is always a satisfying power move.
