[CASTING CALLS] Heroes Academy: Parasitic Desire

Of course, the upside to play by post is that we don't have to worry about everyone being available at a certain time. We can contribute when we can, essentially making it so the game never really stops.

hmm you do have a point. i guess if nothing less i could do a set up scenario or two in play by post and if it goes well then we can go onward from there (i've just gotta remember to take my time and not post every day before the rest of the group has a chance to post.) and it probably wouldn't be a bad idea for me to post up a basic character bio so you guys have an idea of what to shoot for.

So here you go

------------

Houji Matsuaru
-----------
-----------
A young man in his prime, Houji came to Glendale Academy as a way to escape the rigid lifestyle of his father's military born parenting. While he's a fairly social person or would like to think he is, inside he's very withdrawn and lacking in assertiveness.

He's a very athletic young man, during his days in boot camp the officers always said he had high promise as a field infantryman but he felt himself opposed to the bureaucratic red tape and authoritarian nature of the military. Part of this came from the fact his father's rigid and demanding attitude left him unable to experience life from outside a military base. It was always up at 0600 and to bed by 02000 hours. (roughly 6 am to 8pm so sue me I’m not well versed in military time) it was always “Houji focus on your training and your studies. You need to be ready to defend our people in a time of need.” Houji was sick of it and a few months ago walked off the base his dad was stationed on leaving little more than a note and a photo shopped picture of him and his father in what he took to be the sort of pose you'd expect of a family photo. But he questioned the exact details of it as he'd never actually had a family photo with his father and he never knew his mother.

According to his father she'd died in child birth, but about a year ago before he left he broke into a records lock up and found that his mother had apparently left his father due to the fact that she couldn't deal with the stress of his high strung military lifestyle and had taken a job at Glendale Academy for Heroes or as it was known to the general public Heroes Academy

i would have figured that would have given the rest of you a hint to get around to drafting a bio for your characters

Well EXCUSE ME princess, but some of us have been busy. Besides, that post has been around for all of THREE DAYS. When it's been a week or two, then feel free to start bitching.

not you specifically senior servbot i was referring to our potential new initiate but nice use of the Legend of Zelda cartoon reference all the same

It wasn't a reference so much as me calling you a whiny little girl, but sure, we can go with that. Also, here's a thing.

So once, there was this guy. His mom died when he was little and his dad was a dick, or maybe his dad died and his mom was a bitch. Hell, maybe they were both assholes and died. Point is, no one's allowed to have happy, living parents in these things...plus I made a bet with a guy I know that I could cram as many cliches in here as I possibly could, and I'll be damned if I lose my five bucks over an internet game. In any event, he grew up on the streets. Not The Streets mind you, this boy isn't the new <insert rapper name here>. As an orphan on the streets, he had essentially two options: die, or resort to crime. Since this isn't a Dickens novel or A Modest Proposal, he went with the crime. So the guy stole stuff for a living. Sometimes he stole just to get what he needed to survive, and sometimes he got paid to steal stuff. He was pretty good at it.

Of course, if that was the end of the story it'd be...well, it'd be trite and cliche as hell, not to mention it had nothing to do with the entire plot. So one night, the guy went to steal some stuff. Some bloke had offered him a lot of money to break into some dude's house and steal a bunch of papers. The guy (no, not The Guy) broke into the dude's house and took the papers. Unfortunately, the dude had a kickass security system and the guy got caught. Turns out the dude was, in fact, a Very Important Person and the papers were, in fact, Very Important Documents related to a Very Important Institution.

Now the guy was facing having to spend the rest of his life in prison. The bad kind of prison. The kind where you leave in black bags. Yeah, that kind. Needless to say, he wasn't keen on that idea. Fortunately, the Very Important Person was surprisingly impressed by the guy's skills. The two of them made a deal. The Very Important Person would get the guy out of prison and have his record cleared, and in return the guy would go to the Very Important Institution. This was legal and worked because of....reasons. Which brings us to "now," whenever now actually is.

Everything you just read is a serious, legitimate character bio, except for the parts that aren't.

Besides, if you want the best use of that line, watch this. It's part of an internet movie.

well so much for that idea i guess i just picked a bad time of year to try and organize something like this with fall around the corner and most people starting back to school its probably a bad idea to try and start a rpg group that requires scheduled sessions as opposed to a free form play by post format. i figured it would be worth a shot but i guess i just have lousy timing about things sorry about acting a bit too antsy for my own good on this one if your not interested its fine
