Just an idea I had brewing when I was mowing the yard the other day (Greatest source of inspiration). I want to possibly break into the comic book world, and I would like to do it with this book. I'm starting the concept stuff now, and I was wondering if there were any artists out there who could whip up some concept art.
1928 - A 23 year old man by the name of Cameron Michael Langley is an adventurer who is obsessed with holy relics. He comes across a legend when he was younger about the Apple of Eden. Supposedly anyone who eats of the apple gains knowledge and longevity, but is damned to Hell for all eternity. Langley, an aethiest, doesnt believe in the legend at first, but eventually becomes obsessed with finding it and eating it. After years of searching, he finally comes upon the tomb of Adam and Eve and takes a bite of the apple. He suddenly realizes his mistake, he can see Angels and Demons through their disguises, he has a photographic memory, and he learns the horrible truth, their really is a hell, and he's going there, and there is nothing he can do to stop it.
Skip ahead 80 years later.
Cameron is a detective and explorer living in Brooklyn. We start the tale with a young girl, whom Cameron saves from a Doomsday cult who has plans to sacrifice her to a some demon in exchange for immortality. This girl, however, is special, she is the only other person Cameron knows of who can see Angels and Demons. So now Cameron has to protect this girl from these Demons who want to kill her, and Angels who want to take her away from this "Condemned" All the while trying to find some way to bargain or cheat his way into Heaven, a doomed process before it began.
So what do you think? I kinda liken it to Indiana Jones meets Hellblazer.

Powers and abilities
After eating the apple, Cameron gained longevity and an increased lifespan. In 2008 he is well over 90, but appears only about 40. He has the physical fitness of a 40 year old in prime style. He also gained the ability to see Angels and Demons, and can also, with proper concentration, see into certain parts of Hell. Heaven is completely locked to him, however. HE also gained a photographic memory and, to a certain extent, slight photographic reflexes.
Weapons.
The standard arsenal for Langley is a German Wehrmacht Military pistol supposedly used by Hitler, and the only thing that could've killed him. In addition to being able to kill almost anything, it also grants the wielder a certain level of competency with its use. He also is known to carry a dagger made from fragments of the Spear of Longinus. It is a holy blade, able to kill a demon quite easily, and is unerring when thrown. As a backup weapon he keeps a pair of brass knuckles spiked with nails from the crucifixion in his boot at all times.
A little more physical info on Langley:
5'3, about 123lbs. He has red-brown hair tinged with silver at the temples. Wears an old cracked brown leather jacket over a grey t-shirt, blue jeans, work boots, and an old, beatup New York Yankees hat. He has a mad craving for circus peanuts (the candy) and likens them to "Nectar of Heaven."
I decided to go with Circus Peanuts instead of Jelly Beans (another of my favorite snacks). He is fiercely protective of his circus peanuts, and always carries at least one bag in a pocket of his jacket.
