Guys, do you drive in the snow?

Since my estranged mother's going to give me her BIG-ASS SUV coming next year, I don't trust myself in to drive in the snow, knowing that I could end up in car accident, that's for sure.

So, do you guys drive in the snow?

No snow here in CA, :(. Must be nice to live where it snows. The only snow I see is when I go to Big Bear.

Not unless I really have to.

Also, all you have to do is use your common sense and be careful. Don't, say, go 100 miles per hour on a slippery road.

The one time I tried driving in the snow (it was light when we started; we figured it would stop, but it just got worse) I got into an accident. The car in front of me skidded, started spinning, and turned broadside to me. Even though I was going slow and had a lot of lead time, my car just wouldn't stop on the slick road until it hit her in the driver's side door.

No serious damage, no one hurt, but I know that I was lucky as hell. Never doing it again. Remember that even if you're being a good, careful driver with a good car, not everyone else on the road will be. It's not worth the risk outside of an emergency.
