I just wanted to share this since it is amazing when you think about. The toy tie-in for a cartoon has become so popular that it is getting it's own cartoon with it's own toy tie-in. This may be the zenith of consumerism we are witnessing. Plus Beginning Gundam makes a nice game of guess what mobile suit the part came from.
Mokei Senshi Gunpla Builders Beginning G is a story about Haru Irei, a boy who becomes a Gunpla Builder after a fateful encounter with the Beginning Gundam plastic model. And along with his friends: Rina Noyama, an always cheerful girl who is a big fan of Gunpla, and Kenta Sakazaki, a boy who loves Gunpla and gives advice to Haru about building them.
Gundam's done stuff like this to promote models for awhile. The original manga in this vein was, I believe, the perfectly wonderful and insane Plamo Kyo-shiro.
