Gunman dead after bloody campus rampage

it's gotten pretty bad, I've just gotten an email from my chancellor telling us to stay safe and what to do if, god forbid, we suspect that something isn't right

Wow, Jack Thompson knows no boundries. I hope if they turn up a violent video game it's one were you play as goverment agent... a Tom Clancy game.

This was actually pretty scary for my family, as one of my brothers' best friends goes there, and is majoring in engineering.

Im hoping there's some major school reform in the future. Because schools just arent safe at all and we need to update our system to prevent **** like this from happening.

It's bad that this happens to one school but it keeps on happening ever since the first incident. Now everyone who has a chip on their shoulder or has been picked on just decides to shoot up the place.

Unfortunately there really isn't a fool-proof system to guard against this sort of thing. And this guy had reportedly been phoning in bomb threats before going on this shooting spree perhaps testing how the locals would respond. Also VT had banned its students from having guns on campus for about a year prior to this.

Oh woo, banning students from having guns on campus really seemed to stop them from continuing to do it. How do you "ban" such a thing anyway? You arent supposed to have weapons on any campus to begin with. At least all the schools I've ever been to prohibited weapons of any nature. (obvious weapons. Lets not get technical) How is such a thing enforced?

There is no fool proof system, but doing nothing about isnt going to solve it. Bitching about the next crime and praying for the next set of victims doesnt change a damn thing does it? How about we make it mandatory for security to check all bags and long coats at any entrance? Nothing fancy, just a quick unzip, un buckle of the coat, and they are on their way.

"oh but that would take too many resources and money"

If you dared think that, you just put a price on a set of human lives. Congrats.

Technically, he's right. There is no fool-proof system in anything. In my school, even inspection days, many of my classmates would always sneak cellphones inside the campus. It a shame that nobody knew about sneaking something.

As always quote by some genius:
"Everything has always it weakness, with proper equipment and knowledge, one can exploit it."

Do you have any idea how cluttered and time-consuming it would be to check every entering and exiting student at a crowded college campus? Something like that wouldn't be effective and even if it was, it wouldn't stay effective. It's a novel approach, but it doesn't work. School violence will always exist, just as violence in general will always exist. Put in metal detectors and they'll start shanking people with wooden table legs.

Man, if I went to that school I'd go ape ****.

RIP to all those who were tragically murdered by that peice of **** Gunman.

I feel so bad for everyone affected by this.
