Gungrave Goes Live Action!

:bawling:

No way. This is my favorite anime period, and......this......no, there is just no way. I mean sure, I had some faith in the live action adaptation of Blood. And yes, a part of me was sort of excited for the live action Cowboy Bebop, and maybe even Akira, but Gungrave? See guys, this anime has a special place in my heart. I felt like I grew up with Brandon and Harry as the anime finished it's season. Sure I didn't necrolize, or kill a bunch of people, but the point is, I LOVE GUNGRAVE. And now, all I can do is wait. I want to have faith that the "live action version" is going to be "good," but at this point I just don't know, I just don't know. :disappoin

I love both games and the anime has to be my #1 of all time. I really try not to judge an adaptation on the source material, but I really can't do it this time. Please, please, please let it be great.

now that i think about it, John Woo is too busy with his schedule, Kitamura should do it so that way he can bring Tak Sakaguchi to the stateside...

You know, if Ninja Assassin proves to be a badass/entertaining film. I wouldn't mind James McTeigue to take a crack at this. This seems to be a good project for him to bring his style too.

Im kind of excited for this. Because Gungrave can be easily adapted to live action. The story was a simple one of mobs, family, friendship, aspiration, betrayal, and tragedy. There is absolutely no way to **** that kind of story up... unless they just go strictly off the video game and throw in a bunch of crazy zombies and monsters and focus only on the spectacle of the world.

No. I dont give a **** about the man named "Beyond the Grave". Its about Brandon Heat. Its about Harry McDowel! It's about Maria, Big Daddy, Bob Poundmax, Bear Walken, Ballabird Lee, Bunji Kugashira, Mika. It's about the story of two best friends. One wanted love. The other wanted the throne. Together, they climbed the ladder to reach their goals. along the way they had to make sacrifices that changed the way they perceived their world and the way they had to live.
And in the very end? In the very end when both men had guns pointed at each other... they were still best friends. Even after all was said and done, they were still friends and they knew only they could end the madness they started. No one else.

God dammit, I loved Gungrave. The final episode had me teared up. This movie can be truly wonderful. They need to focus on the Anime story and ignore the games completely. Ignore the spectacle of the monster action. Ignore the wonderful crazy world. No. Ground us in reality and let us feel the emotion of the story.
