Aussie thesps Hugh Jackman ("X-Men"), Hugo Weaving ("The Matrix," "The Lord of the Rings") and Ryan Kwanten (HBO's "True Blood") will provide their voices for Warner Bros. animated feature "Guardians of Ga'Hoole" reports The Daily Telegraph.

Set in the Forest of Tyto, it follows a race of Barn Owls who live in peace until their kingdom is threatened by an evil that could destroy their home. Kwanten, currently in Sydney recording his role, plays a young barn owl who attempts to escape the evil clutches of a band of rogue owls.

"300" and "Watchmen" director Zack Snyder helms the feature based on the series of children's books by Kathryn Lasky. Animal Logic ("Happy Feet") is producing the project which opens July 2010.

Okay, that cast list would be cool enough, but I am beyond psyched about this news for one reason: Kathryn Lasky the mother of one of my best friends. She's really sweet and has been writing books for ages-- she even asked my wife (biologist) advice on owl behavior for the books when she started writing them! This is beyond awesome, I am so happy for her!

Congratulations to her then, her children must be proud.
