GTO - Live Action: Support this title.

Media Blasters has expressed a general interest in what we'd like, to bring live action stuff to the US. This is one of their first steps where they are testing the waters to see if people would be interested Japanese TV shows. One of their staff is a huge toku fanatic, if you ever meet her at a con she is like "Wow" very ridiculously into toku, she wants to license Black RX and bring it over. Her name escapes me at the moment, I will ask my friend, he probably knows. Anyways, if people don't support this, then Media Blasters might stop considering licensing non-anime TV series for a while. Which would be sad because they're the only licensing company to even consider such a ground-breaking idea.

You for real? See Kyusaku, jeff didnt tell me all of that just that in 04 they expressed interest. Fucking JA. Not personal.

He might not have known all that in '04. And besides, most of that is trivial anyway except that they have indeed shown interest. They just need to get a better show over than RX...

Yeah, I spoke to her at AnimeNext a little bit. At the panel she expressed the release of this movie is a gateway to picking up regular TV series. And expressed how she'd love it for her company to pick up Black RX and some sentai titles that I forget. They're planning to see how well this DVD sells to see if live action has a market. Everything live action they've released so far has been pretty standalone movies for the most part. This movie has a strong connection to a 12 episode TV series. The company likes to be pioneers, probably why they created it in the first place. Most of Media Blasters actually use to be Software Sculptors, a division of Central Park Media. But a lot of them left to start their own company and look where they are today!

LOL well don't consider Black RX a definite, that's just her fanaticism creeping out of her. Which I found amusing how she blurted that out at the panel. Anyways, it's worth a shot really. If you like GTO, if you like jdramas, pick this DVD up, support the release. I'll probably will pick it up in a week or two. Even though I found this movie somewhat weak compared to the TV series since you don't get the chemistry between Soramichi and his real-life wife. But whatever, it's GTO!

Remember the customer, not producer or what have you, is always right. .
No offence, but as a guy who deals with customers on a regular basis, that is no where near to being true. Or I may just deal with really stupid people on a regular basis.

Back on topic, I'll try to keep an eye out for this and check it out.

It used to be true, but then corporations started to not give a ****. Customers you deal with might seem "stupid," but it's just frustration as a result of those in charge of customer relations being giant dickwads to we, the customers, because of said not giving a **** anymore. You can take our money, but you can't take the time to treat us respectfully! That's the problem with America today!

Anyway, to the topic at hand, if buying this title for $30 at Suncoast makes way for the potential release of RX...then I'm keeping my $30.

Ewww, who the hell buys stuff at suncoast? That place is horrendously over priced.

It is, but if you're in a small town, that's about the only place that's not the internet to get foreign titles. And sure, I like finding deals on the net. But sometimes it's nice to go buy a CD or DVD and have it in your hands leaving the store.

To be honest, I wouldn't be interested in the GTO Movie even if it was free, really. Sorry gang. I'd rather they try to bring the Sky High series over before the GTO one...I think I'd be slightly more hopeful for a tokusatsu release with something cartoonish like Sky High rather than GTO. If GTO takes off, the only tokusatsu we'll get is Hibiki, isn't it?

It's weird what these companies try to release to grab an interest in a potential market for the stuff. I mean...Ultraman Tiga? Random-ass Ultraman movies? I think Ultraman's a poor reflection on other areas of tokusatsu that WOULD have a potential audience in the U.S.
