Godzilla (2014 US Film)

NOOOO!!!

Needs more Rodan, Anguirus, and King Seesar
Anguirus I could get behind. He has a "plucky underdog" vibe to him that I always liked. Rodan's just boring though. His most interesting movie was the solo one he debuted in. Plus the MUTO in the trailers is some kind of flier, so it seems unlikely they'd have another one so soon (assuming that the final movie doesn't declare them to be the new version of Rodan - they really are very similar). As for King Caesar, well IMO the fluffy bunny kaiju is about as threatening as the salad of the same name.

Either would still be better than Ghidorah (or as I know him, the bobble-headed punching bag). If I had free choice though, Mothra would be back or failing that Kong/Mechani-Kong, Biollante, Desotroyah, even Hedorah or Ebirah deserve another go.

Very pumped for this flick! Just ordered those blu-ray Godzilla double features they just put out. Some of my favs on there, Destoroyah, 90s Mechagodzilla, Final Wars, oh yes.

Awesome review.

I like the fact that this version of Godzilla is receiving good feedback but nothing against an American Godzilla I just hope Toho receives enough from this movie to revive the ultimate king of monsters the Japanese Godzilla.

Or at least revive the Daikaju Eiga...except for Mothra...stupid butterfly

PS: Gamera is next

I would love some more giant monster movies with both new and old giants. Certainly need more lady monsters. With this movie, out of the dozens of Godzilla monsters, there are now...4? Yeah. Need to step up on that one.

I still would love a Mothra series under a better writer. I enjoy the Rebirth trilogy but problems oh boy did it have. You could write a great story about her mythology (Sorry, Mothra stan here).

I'm more of Biollante Rose Form, not a big fan of Final/Monster Form though.

If anything Mothra related....Battra Rebirth

I liked it, pretty cool movie I'd say. This doesn't tickle me like a lot of the Japanese movies, but still a strong and entertaining movie for me. Could've used a bit more focusing on monster action, but I still dig it.

YMMV, I kind of like her final/monster form...can't explain it. I think she would carry some great movies as the star.

Whenever I think of rebooting Battra, I like putting Belvera and GaruGaru from the Rebirth trilogy with him, her thinking humans suck and willing to cleanse the Earth but taking a bit of sadistic satisfaction out of it. Having those three paired against Mothra and her fairies would certainly raise the personal stakes.

I wouldn't probably see this film until next week or the week after. As a spoiler hound, I'm liking what I'm hearing so far. If there's isn't cute or lulzy fanart of the scene where [hide] the Hokmuto gives the nuclear warhead as basically a babyshower gift,[/hide] I'd be disappointed.
