God Speed Love (KR Kabuto) Question

Just finished watching Kamen Rider Kabuto and I loved it. Its my first toku show despite being a power ranger fan for 15 years. Started watching it some recommendations I had read here and at rangerboard and now Im hooked lol!

I decided to download Elite Fansubs' version of God Speed Love as I hear TVNihon are waiting for the directors cut DVD before they release their fansub. I had a little read on wikipedia before watching and it said the film is set in an alternate timeline to the series. After having seen it though, Im not so sure it is an alternate timeline but more a prequel to the series.

In the last few eps of Kabuto, most of the questions are answered and the mysterys surrounding the main cast are revealed. But I cant remember them revealing how or where exactly Tendou got the Kabuto belt.

Maybe it was hyper kabuto/himself that gave young Tendou the belt as shown in the movie? The scenes look almost identical to the beggining of the series save a few details. Would I be right in saying that the final scenes God Speed Love are the same as the first few scenes of the series and that the movie is a prequel or have I missed something?

In a way, the movie can be somewhat considered to be BOTH an alternate universe as well as a prequel to the series. However here, it's actually just an alternate universe. In the series Tendou says that he was given his belt by a Native that was caught in the rubble where he and Hiyori were when the meteor hit Shibuya (the way they show it in the episode, it's the Native that was imitating his father).

Hence in THIS case, although the belt managed to find it's way to young Tendou in both the movie and the series, it's just a matter of who specifically gave it to him. In the movie it was "future Tendou", and in the series it was "Native imitating Tendou's dad."

Well if you ask me, the movie is a prequel set in an alternate time line, the movie is mostly canon in my opinion. I believe Caucasus built the Hyper Zecter and the Hyper Zecter Tendou summons in the series is the Hyper Zecter from the movie.

well here is my take on it, the movie does take place in an alternate time line, but when he travels back in time and gives young tendou the Belt both timelines merge and become the series, you notice he disapears after he gives him the belt, and all the other charaters dissapeard as well, its because that time line no longer exsisted as it became one with the other, i also belive that the tendou was sucked back into the future and merged with the other him (Temporal Mechanics 101)

Anything in the movie was proven uncanical when Tendou received the belt from his Native Father Mimic in the series, while he got it from a future self in the movie.

Who said young Tendou kept that same belt from Future Tendou? that belt could have disappeared afterwords when Future Tendou disappeared and then the native gives him the belt.

Sorry, but that logic fails when you think using the "Temporal Mechanics" that Kagami mentioned. If what you said were true, then the belt would have disappeared at the EXACT same time that future Tendou disappeared. Future Tendou disappeared because by giving his younger self the belt, he changed the outcome in the future and he (the way that he grew up) no longer exists. By changing the past, EVERYTHING from that future would no longer exist, future Tendou, the belt he gave to his younger self, the movie riders, the satellite, everything would be gone, and they would all disappear at the same time, not one at a time the way you suggested. The fact is, the belt actually remains and young Tendou is able to use it. Without the belt, young Tendou would not have been able to escape from all that rubble that he was pinned under. He wouldn't have been able to save Hiyori from the rubble the way he does at the end of the movie.

In the series, during the scene where we see young Tendou get the belt, we also see that he was not pinned by lots of rubble the way he was in the movie. We see him walking over to the Native that imitated his father, who then gives him the belt. The two scenes are totally different, the scenarios were different, the source of the belt in the two scenes are different. This is because the series and the movie are not connected in that manner. The movie is set in an Alternate Universe setting and has no bearing/influence on the events of the series whatsoever.

The KR movies have always been set in an Alternate Universe, so that they can do stuff there that they cannot do in the series, either for financial reasons, or because they don't want to **** up the storyline/canon that has already been established. TV TOEI (the company that produces both the series and the movies) have consistently maintained this fact and when asked, have repeatedly said, on numerous occaissions that the movies are written to be completely separate from the series and that the two (in terms of storyline/canon) are not meant to actually have any literal connection. The movies are a "What if?" type of story. In this case: What if the meteorite that had orginally crashed in Shibuya was actually just a fragment of a much larger one? What if, instead of that smaller one, the much larger one actually crashed into the earth? What if Yaguruma never had "Kanzen Chowa"? What if he didn't lose "TheBee"? What if Kagami hooked up with Hiyori? What if Hiyori wasn't so emo? What if there was no Juka??? :sly:

In a way, setting the movies in an Alternate Universe allows the writers to explore other potential storylines/arcs that they otherwise could not have done for the series.
