Developer CrazyGroupTrio Games, creator of Shera and the 40 Thieves, has created his most ambitious experiment for the NES yet: Tryptic. The game’s physical production is currently being crowdfunded on Kickstarter now. I’ve been following the development of Trpytic ever since it was an entry in the NESMaker Byte-Off Competition last year (which it won) and I don’t say this lightly: this is one of the most innovative games the 8-bit console has ever seen. Here’s the deal: you’ve been sent to investigate an abandoned spaceship whose crew mysteriously disappeared. You can’t explore the entire area because most of the doors are locked, and the only way to unlock them is to….play games. Tryptic isn’t just one game, it’s several games. Each of them belongs to a different genre, and any one of them could be full games on their own, but they’re all bundled together under the premise of a spooky point-and-click exploratory adventure. You must beat each game to obtain keys to open doors. There is definitely no
