[Anime] Gatchaman CROWDS

I kinda think you're reading too much into it, to be honest. I mean, this is clearly supposed to be a light-hearted show, and these comments are pretty... well, out there.

In any case, in the first episode they explained that the aliens they're hunting down, for one, are criminals, and for another, that they destroy everything they touch with their tentacles, and presumably also absorb human beings/lead to them being missing, as the Big-Small guys have to salvage the absorbed humans so they can be saved and returned to their lives.

It was one or two lines, but it was definitely there. What Hajime did in the second episode, meanwhile, was work down the MESS to a smaller size - and sans dangerous tentacles - to a point at which it could be communicated with. It was something unheard of and completely out there, not unlike Hajime herself is, so it's no wonder all they'd been doing was eradicating the MESS as they had been thus far.

How what Hajime did, as opposed to simply eradicating it, will change things, if it will at all, is yet to be seen, but I think it's really too early to count this show out when thus far it's been fairly solid, stylish, and interesting.

Saw the second ep. and it comes from as stupid. Not sure if I want to see the first after all. Felt stranger than anything I have seen this year, even over a wild girl who killed herself for her mentally screwed up Mama Spirit, that killed her own daughter and nuns for no reason, and became a butterfly. [Also, very unrealistic recovery. But yeah Mama's back story made as much sense as what I could come up with after depriving myself of water and sleep.]

Episode 3 pretty much ditches the superheroics altogether and becomes a show about social networking, crowdsourcing and gamification...and it was actually waaay more enjoyable :sweat:

OD's probably won't appear until the final episode, seeing as they keep teasing that it's basically an act of last resort to use him. Base on the nine episodes I've watched, it's more a deconstruction of Gatchaman really.
