Garo Red Requiem Blu-Ray

I thought the action of this movie satisfied my taste. However, as a whole movie, it was only average. It felt totally different from the TV series and Beast of the White Knight. The only connection we had in here were Kouga, Zaruba and the Horrors. Hey, that sounds similar to a certain Pirates movie that came out this summer. Anyways, the special effects looked pretty cool especially in the 2nd half. I can certainly tell 3D played a big part in how certain scenes and angles were shot. I did find Rekka to be kinda annoying too. She's hot though which was how I was barely able to tolerate her. It seemed like this movie advanced her character more than anyone else. I really don't know what else to say about this though. It was just there and felt like it got me through the emotions. It didn't give me a big impact like Beast of the White Night did. Now that movie was awesome. To end my review, I wish Kaoru was in this movie. The mention of her name in the epilogue was lame.

I only got into Garo a couple of months ago and after I caught with everything,I anticipated the release of RR.It pains me to say it was pretty lackluster.I liked Kouga and Zaruba,the out of suit action was damn good,but the characters and story were pretty bland.I was disappointed in the lack of physical suits.We didn't see the Garo armor or any terrifying Horror suits.The lack of returning characters didn't help either:No Rei,no Kaoru and no Gonza.Not even as cameos.I didn't expect the plot to revolve around Kaoru or Gonza,but a cameo would've been nice.When Kouga said that they needed reinforcements I thought,"Aww yea Zero is gonna come in and kick some Horror ass alongside Kouga" but NOPE nowhere to be seen.Why introduce all these new characters when they really didn't amount to much?If they needed another Makai Priest why not bring back Jabi?They didn't bring her back to life to just forget about her did they?Now the CG fights,I didn't mind the CG fights in the show.I thought they were pretty cool.Even the fight in the show's finale I liked,but for some reason I just found the completely CG fight in the completely CG environment very boring.I love Garo and even though the star of the new series isn't Kouga,I'm still gonna look forward to it.This movie doesn't get my approval(sadly) and easy pass.Doesn't add much to the Garo universe or to its characters. :disappoin

Given the promo pictures for the second series, it looks like Red Requiem's main story purpose will have been the introduction of Rekka, since she seems to be sticking around.

Production-wise, I wouldn't be surprised if the movie was used primarily as a gauge to see how much interest there still was in Garo. If it had really tanked (keep in mind I have no idea how well it did at the box office) we probably wouldn't be getting the Kiba movie or the second series.

Considering the same actress in the same costume was there along with the rest of the cast, I'm guessing she's not getting recast. Still, doesn't mean she'll be in every episode as a prominent character (and ideally Jabi will smack some sense into her).
