[Anime] Garo - Honoo no Kokuin

IIRC it was somewhere in Makai Senki, it was implied in at least two episodes, and like you said makes more sense, Horrors are humanity's problem, not Japan's. Also, the fact that the "big guys"(save for Rei) guard certain "hotspots" makes it more probable.

As for the anime...it's above YamiWoTerasu(least favourite season) and Black Blood(second least favourite)...or I may like it just as much as BB but don't realise it due to Rei's butchering in his own series.

Now the rings, seems like it's only due to Leon's curse and the flames, the tapestry in the King's castle showed a proper Garo with the cape, like the first one from the Saejima's armour.

hmmm, me and my girlfriend are currently watching Makai Senki and i havent noticed it yet and we are close to the end now (2-3 eps or so). ill keep an ear out.

IIRC way back in the first series of Garo, Rei confirmed that the title Zero and the silver armour were not passed between generations as the Garo title and golden armour were, but instead were a brand new legacy. So unless they want to retcon the live action show they can't say it's Zero. But they're clearly trying to channel him for Leon's dad.

I don't recall the fact that it was a brand new title. I think by what he meant that it wasn't passed down between generations was that Rei was adopted, and was called Ginga (Meaning silver, which is literally the name of his horse as well). He only gave himself the new name as Rei (meaning zero) to be a pun on the title ZERO itself.

I think the name can be changed slightly as time passes. German proves that he can change his name from Roberto... so, maybe he might as well have changed the title or something later.

And yeah, I know Zero's not the only Silver Knight, but it's not in his title. Garo and Zero are listed respectively as the Golden and Silver Fanged Knights. Bado was listed as the Storm Knight, and to be fair, he felt more like a shiny grey, since Zero's armour's tone is brighter, and much more shiny.

It's kinda interesting to see the glowing reviews this series is getting over on anime news network. The review for episode for even makes a few comparison to early FMA episodes!

The first real MotW episode here, but with that sense of tension that something terrible is going to happen that good horror movies (and good Garo episodes) have. Leo interacts with a young boy who has similar motivations to him, and ultimately has to tell the boy that giving into those motivations is wrong, and yet the show doesn't need to hammer home a "now I see that..." monologue at the end. Points to Kobayashi for once for showing some restraint/intelligence in her script (this is entirely subjective of course, but I'm also watching Psycho-Pass 2 which is really irritating me by feeling that it has to make the characters point out all this kind of stuff to each other). Sadly no Zaruba at all this week, after dedicating an entire episode to introducing him last time around. But I guess you can't have everything.

was really hoping that horror would've gotten EVERY villager, oh well. At least the Chief suffered. and Ditto, I'm waiting for Leon to have Zaruba bite the sword and have it catch on fire...hmm...maybe that's how he suppresses it?

It was a ruthless episode again this week. Leon's victory was hallow at best. He was force to face the dark side of his obsession, go against what he had believed up to this point, at the end the village is still as f**ked up and, despite all his strength, he can't don anything about it.

Next week we find out more about the red Makai Knight. Apparently his name/title is Gaia since that's the title for the episode.

So Knight of Defense, Gaia, it is. Bet he dies too. Good they explained the bloodline thing.
Next episode preview, was that Zoro/Zero? or a new Makai Knight? most likely new, considering the title of it.

nope, not new, the weapon is the exact same(down to the chains), the color is the exact same, the design is the exact same, it's Leon's dad, whatever his name is(we still don't know whether it's German, Roberto, or something else, dude's a fraud)

His real name is Roberto, but since he went on the run he goes by Herman.

And yes, it is Zoro in the preview, you can see his insignia.

Good they explained the bloodline thing.
Yeah. It's not really a big enough twist for them to save it later into the series, but they also immediately avoided having him try to become the golden knight himself only to later find out that Leon exists and get all pissy.

After my initial scepticism the last couple of episodes have actually been quite good. It makes me wonder why Kobayashi wasn't bringing this level to the Black Blood movies/miniseries?

He carved a Z into a tree with his sword?
