Garage Hero: Stray Bullet

Maybe it would be worth considering a new forum for the discussion of indie projects like we were mentioning in Gkaiser thread?

That'd be a really good idea! Considering I sort of have a tokusatsu project in the works, as some people may already know, and would like to discuss it as it develops.

Count me in!

Anywhere on YouTube where I could see some of your stuff?

Annoyingly I don't have any of my video work on YouTube and my portfolio is of stuff I've made in my spare time in the past few months for my games portfolio, but here anyway:

I'm a bit varied in what I know so if you'd have to tell me what you need and I'll try to help. I have loads of time off over Christmas you make whatever you want.

Added you to Skype. Hit me up the next time I'm on there. I'll do the same if you miss me by chance. We'll talk more on there.

I imagine the camcorder was expensive. WHat are you suing for the special effects? After Effects?

The beauty of the camera was that it wasn't expensive at all. I filmed using the Xacti HD 1010. It's out of production now, but you can find it (and the slightly newer Sanyo HD 2000) on eBay for fairly cheap.

The HD 2000 has slightly a few more features than the 1010, but they're pretty much the same camera. They both:

- Shoot in both 4.3 square and 16.9 widescreen HD.
- Are very portable
- Can be used as both video AND photo cameras
- Although sold seperately, have some pretty nice lenses
- Have audio jacks for an external mic
- Use SD cards

The most important feature of both is the ability to shoot in 300 fps slow motion as you may have noticed in some of my shots. Just YouTube Sanyo Xacti 1010 or 2000 to see what they can do.

I bought my used one in Akiba for around $299 US. The 16 memory card cost me approx. $34 US. For anyone out there starting out to do Tokusatsu, I couldn't reccomend a better camera.

As for After Effects, there's actually not going to be much use of that in this movie. You'll see why once you see it. :P

Let me say this to start...

This is very interesting. I'm an amateur prop maker of sorts, I have to say I really like the work you did. Neither of us has a fully equipped workshop, so we work with what we can manage.

I can testify, making a good looking costume costs TONS of money. I've spent € 200 (roughly $ 220) on a Jin Roh cosplay in 2006 including the build of a vacumeforming machine and respective molds and another € 100,- tweaking it. And it's still not done.

That said, the suit looks spot on for the character. He looks like he doesn't give a **** and that you shouldn't rub him the wrong way. That's body language right there!
