Games That Surprised You With Unexpected Emotional Depth

I've been thinking a lot about games that hit me right in the feels when I least expected it. Like, you get into a title expecting typical gameplay or action, and then BAM, you're hit with a story or moment that just leaves you breathless. For me, that was *The Last Guardian*. I went in for the puzzle platforming and adorable giant creature, but the bond between the boy and Trico took me on an emotional rollercoaster I didn’t see coming.

Another great example is *Undertale*. It's a quirky game, and I was laughing one minute, but then you realize the weight of your choices, and it really makes you question your morals and relationships with the characters.

What are some games that caught you off guard with their emotional storytelling? I'd love to hear your experiences! Did any particular scenes or narratives stay with you long after you played?

Celeste really caught me off guard with its emotional depth. I went in thinking it was just a challenging platformer, but the way it explores mental health and self-acceptance through Madeline's journey was so powerful. The entire game had me reflecting on my own struggles, especially with how it tackles anxiety and overcoming obstacles.

Another one that gets me every time is Life is Strange. The choices you make feel so impactful, especially when dealing with the consequences of those decisions. The moment when you have to choose between your friendships and your hometown just hits hard.

I'm curious if you guys have any go-to moments from those games that really left an impression. What scenes or interactions still stick with you?
