Gamera Reboot?

If they brought him back , it would be nice. But I doubt he might want to come back if this Gamera reboot does well.

Knowing he is on this project makes me feel more confident that it will be good. How they will compete against Godzilla is going to be interesting.
Competing against the Legendary Godzilla is nigh impossible. However, they can try to corner the Japanese/Asian market and capitalize off of Legendary Godzilla's success.

Unless they try to do a really gritty reboot of Gamera, which I don't think would go over well since Gamera has never been seen as a pure destructive force like Godzilla originated as. Gamera has always had a small part of kindness shown in his films.

Either way, I'm hoping for a new kaiju anything. I'm always up for more Gamera.

The main thing practical effects could do is if they made the suit look biologically realistic rather than fall in the pitfalls of the Heisei Godzilla suit. Also the fact it could bring it down to earth with somewhat tangible lighting rather than needing to predict and fail at the lighting. Mainly keep the design simple, with some homages to 1995 and 65 in the design. Make the head completely animatronic and for closeups or any head shots, use CG for the head in a blend.

Could it compete? I don't know, but if the CG from Always is any indication, they could do moderately decent CG effects that are on par with Hollywood. But, instead of aiming for America, maybe they could remake/dub it for China and it would be even more profitable in the long run.

I found 1965 more of a parody of Gojira than a take because the boy in it was played an idiot. Millions are dying in the original and this kid is saying that Gamera is their friend? In this sense, they could easily make the Gamera reboot darker. Just make the kids a part of a cult like the Children of the Corn that worships Gamera and make them the antagonists.

Nothing's scarier than a flock of evil children that control a walking weapon.
