Friends: Overrated TV show or not?

I have all 10 seasons of Friends....I got into it a few years ago....I'm way behind on it now lol I need to get watching on those dvds, haven't go through season 2 yet lol

Friends is not only overrated but unfunny too, and yet Channel 4 is overloaded with pointless re-runs of old episodes.

Friends is for people with none.

Friends, as I see it, was the biggest(and I'm not saying best) sitcom created. Shows in comparasion now can't even catch up. The comedy is derived from a situation that the characters find themselves in and the fact they are so different and so easy to 'get' and like, you can partly guess how it will end and still find it funny. They have catchphrase, that even today people still know well. It just works for what it is.

Speaking of using curse words, it works only when used at the correct time. I've seen some shows where they use it a lot and well... it's like watching 10 year olds speak. I personally don't like Everyone Loves Raymond, nor Coupling(funnily enough, I was sitting yesterday about sitting down and trying to get into it). British comedies seem to have fallen to the same problem America has at the moment. Simple slapstick stuff that is in no way groundbreaking.

I watched loads of The Fast Show the other day. I forgot how greatly funny that was.

i liked friends.

it wasnt' the best show in the world and certainly the whole Ross and Rachael thing got really old really fast aside from baby antics, but it was entertaining. the situations were funny and although the character archtypes never changed each character matured and generally changed in ways thats intense for flanderized characters.

i mostly liked how childish the characters were. it kinda gives me a bit of hope that things will evntually be back like they were in high school after college is all said and done. that we'll be back to living life and goofing around as friends.

that and i cant get enough of sex life comedy situations.

Watch Arrested Development if you want true funny.

I never really care about Friends. Personally, I thought it was really lame and that show was not FUNNY. So, yes... Overrated.

My cousin loved this show.

So I post the question on RB and I get slammed by TiG to watch the whole seasons instead of selected episodes.

Guess I should do that.
