Tron: Ares is here…literally. The first released trailer from Disney confirms what’s been a rumored premise for months: Programs are escaping into the real world. Cops are in pursuit of a speeder on the highway, but there’s not much they can do when it turns out to be a light cycle whose wall carves their car in half. Space Paranoids are descending on our cities and smashing skyscrapers. We need help…we need the guy in the title! But it looks like he’s not available, so we’ll settle for the guy in the subtitle. “Tron: Ares follows a highly sophisticated Program, Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings,” reads Disney’s synopsis. There’s nothing here implying he’s sinister…at least not yet. Tron: Legacy hinted at the potential of Programs crossing over into reality, and it looks like Tron: Ares will continue to explore the possibilities of that (plus, we imagine it’s cheaper to shoot in “real” environments). The concept of programs escaping into the real world is a natural progression from the hints in Tron: Legacy. I like that they're exploring the consequences of that possibility. The visual of the light cycle carving through the car is striking and immediately establishes the stakes.

I'm also curious about Ares' mission and whether he will ultimately be an antagonist or an ally. Jared Leto is an interesting choice for the lead. Overall, the trailer has me intrigued, and I'm looking forward to seeing more.

Hmm, this sounds different from the other Tron movies. I really liked the look of the computer world with all the bright lights. I hope they don't forget about that. It was a big part of what made Tron special. Now it sounds like it's mostly going to be in our world with these programs coming here. I hope it still feels like a Tron movie. This Ares character, I wonder if he's going to be a good guy or a bad guy. They say maybe not bad yet. I will still watch it because I liked the other movies, but I hope it has some of that old Tron feeling.

I hope they explain why this is happening and what the programs want to do here. Just seeing action isn't enough; I want a good story too. Maybe Ares will become friends with humans? Or maybe there will be a big fight? I'm curious to learn more about what happens.

Bringing the Tron world into our world sounds like a big risk. I hope it works out. Sometimes when movies change too much, they lose what made them good in the first place. I really liked the unique look and feel of the digital world in Tron. I hope this movie still has some of that. But I'm also curious about what would happen if programs really did come here. The trailer had some cool action, so maybe the story will be good too. I'll probably still go see it, just to find out if they can make this new idea work and if it still feels like a Tron movie.
