First look at SYM-BIONIC TITAN!

I also got a lot of Machine Robo vibes (the 80s series, not Rescue) from the dynamic between the girl, the guy, and the girl's robot protector. I'm familiar with Ga-Keen but I haven't actually seen any episodes of it, so the combination sequence just made me think of Aquarion (more's the pity).

I thought there were some awkward aspects to the show; the cartoony character designs don't entirely work for me during the dramatic scenes (though I love them during the high school scenes), and I think the team's struggling a little bit to write dialogue to reflect the insane goings-on that doesn't sound completely stupid when spoken aloud in English. I also thought there was a lot of exposition that didn't need to be there (did we need three minutes of technobabble explaining how the combination works?) But that could also just be a factor of trying to introduce the foreign concepts to an audience that's not very used to them.

But there was also a lot to like. For one, I have to say I think it's awesome that an American is making a robot show where we can throw out possible inspirations as being Grendizer, Ga-Keen and Machine Robo. The high school sequence was great. The interplay between the more traditional military faction and the super-secret-l33t military faction seems like it could have interesting consequences.

All in all, I think it has potential and it will just depend on how it goes from here. I do think there's more precedent these days for kid's shows to keep up a running plot, so I don't think he'll be obligated to keep it in the episodic ghetto that Samurai Jack was forced into. I wouldn't even mind if it was more like Sentai, with basically episodic storytelling that nevertheless builds to interesting climaxes every couple of episodes.

Did the bad guy just snap that dudes neck? This show ain't playin.

Yeah, I was really surprised! This series was not afraid to show death (not in an over-the-top bloody way), and a very wicked villain!

The OP is the same as the first episode, though (still too short). But despite that, I enjoyed Episode 2 immensely! Lots of great action to be found.

Yea, I sort of saw it coming, my thoughts where. "No way..he's not gonna do it...he did it. :O_O:..:buttrock:"

Man I haven't looked foraward to a show on CN since the Toonami days.

Ummm... That was a weird scene to have in a kid's show... I mean damn how did that make it pass standards and practices. Good episode overall though, always nice to see the status quo not revert. Though the dancing scene will probably over shadow any else relating to episode though I think Newton's relationship is probably a set-up for the team's identity being revealed at some point, the question is more if it is just going to be a few people or a big public reveal.

Also I am waiting for them to reveal more about Solomon and the Galactic Guardian Group, and for some reason I get the feeling they may become for directly involved sooner or later.

I just wonder if they're going to remember this episode the next time Octus (in his "father" form) meets Barb. It seems likely he'd now be able to connect the dots a bit as to her actions.

I thought it was an awesome episode! Yeah, the dancing scene is pretty arousing (and great artists like Genndy Tartakovsky and the like can do a great job with that, even in a subtle way!), but I really like how this episode humanized the cheerleader girl, making her the heroine of the premise. And that was really good character development. I am loving this series more and more!
