I'm sorry but I disagree. You ask most people what their favorite FF is, and they are going to say 7. You ask them what the best FF is, they say.

No. FF7 is considered the best of the best for FF. I personally don't see it, but if you ask people what their favorite FF is they usually say 7.

Well I heard 7 and X are consered the biggest FFs for the Sony era.

It has nothing to do with how hyped it was. It was because for a lot of people it was their first FF. It was also because it was the first FF full of FMV. There are a lot of reasons it was so popular, and the hype when it came out is at the very very bottom of the list.

Yeah, within my circle of friends, we traded the same copy of FFVI around on the SNES back in middle school. I played it long after everyone else but before I had a playstation... so I hold it above the rest of the series. I do wonder if my view would be different if VII were my first Final Fantasy rather than VI.

FFVII was also the first FF to be have exposure to the internet during its release. The amount of speculation/whining/crying/rumours about Aeris' death over the internet is considered historic by some.

Personally I think it's inferior to both V and VI.
