Who cares? It's all about how they're written and displayed. Spider-Man was a young teen and he was great. Personally I don't think you should start a career in world-saving when you're close to being borderline retirement age.
That doesn't matter, not every teen is a "milquetoast nerd." Spider-Man was one of the first heroes that firmly established himself without being someone's second fiddle and solidified the idea that teenagers can be heroes. Most of the guys in Tokusatsu nowadays aren't even that young (Magiranger being a very rare exception), so I don't see what difference it makes.
I'd say on a regular basis I like my heros in their 20's.
But a wiser, older hero from time to time is awsome. I think all the instances of them in toku have been done real well, I cant think of one i didnt like. (as far as characterization and need, not necessarily the series' they're in .. *cough* hibiki)
And well, c'mon, my "favorite type of hero"? .. who can't pass up a loli from time to time?

I wasn't saying that all teens had to be nerds!! Like I said, there needs to be more variety. All we ever have are pretty-idol types. That's all we ever have.

Tendou isn't really the pretty-boy type... I mean sure, it's a TV show, so everybody's going to be wearing some makeup and have feathery hair, but he doesn't just stand around making puppy eyes or anything like Kenzaki, he's pretty no-nonsense.
