Favorite pre-BLACK rider series

Then again, it's the only pre-BLACK Kamen Rider I've seen.

The original series, and yeah, I preferred the original version of Ichigo's suit as opposed to the greener new one. To be honest, I'd only remembered bits and pieces of the original series from snippets viewed on betamax (Betamax!) back in the Philippines in the old days.

Now that I think about it, that was probably the one thing I appreciated about Kamen Rider:The Next -- there's a believable explanation for the suit's color changes (even if the movie as a whole was wonky J-Horror). Did they ever out and out explain why Ichigo's suit changed in the series?

It's been so long since I watched V3, I got the HK set and I'm waiting to rewatch it when I grab the Generation Kikaida set.

I do remember some epic stuff like the V3 vs. Doctor G fight and ofcourse Riderman's sacrifice in the end.

I still think V3 had the best 1st episode.

Super-1's cool, I don't know why it gets such a raw deal. I mean okay: the second half lightens things up a lot compared to the more serious first half, and the Junior Riders are far more in-your-face than the Shounen Riders ever were. Also the monsters are beyond ridiculous. But on the flip side, it does have Kamen Rider's first true villainesses, there's a meta episode which if nothing else has some serious balls, and the ending's pretty good (it has the grandaddy of all Bigass Rider Swords!) Also, the monsters are beyond ridiculous (it's also a good thing.) And lastly, I never find it boring- and that's a big key when it comes to the stuff I like.

The first half though, is pretty solid. Episode #2 has one of the most badass things I've ever seen, and Super-1 himself is always cool the whole way through. It's the first Rider show where the flaws go beyond "this is my problem rather than the show's" as I like to call it, but I don't think it's the disaster it's been made out to be in the past.

Though it's got nothing on the series that came right before it. :laugh:
