Final Fantasy XV (2016): Prince Noctis and his friends embark on a road trip that becomes a battle to reclaim his kingdom. It blends open-world exploration with real-time action combat. AKA Final Fantasy 15, FF15, FFXV
There is always gonna be some element of cheesy in there so I guess it just comes with the territory. I have come to accept that as a part of it all though and it really makes little difference to me.
Prompto sounded annoying in English dub while I find his voice sexier in Japanese so I played the game with Japanese dub. This video is a comparison of the English cast and the Japanese cast. Who is the best actor for each character?
From my experience, it always seems that the unknown always interests people more than the known. It's the same thing with languages, as those language we aren't familiar with seems to appeal more to us than the one we already knew.
I watched way too much Anime so I have no issues with reading subtitles. I actually played the game in both languages so I can have 2 fresh different experience. Also both are not my first language, I am Persian so both languages are foreign to me.
The Japanese actors are better sounding to me. I mean Prompto sounded bitchy and Cindy's accent is hard to understand.

I have also watched lots of anime and have no problem reading subtitles as I play. As for the different character languages, I honestly have no preference. I think the characters sound good both in Japanese and English versions of the game. If you focus really hard on the game, you will ALMOST not hear the struggle in the characters' translation of speech from Japanese.
English dubbed would not be as perfect as the original Japanese version because it happens everywhere. Even in the movies, the original sounds perfect while the dubbed in other languages sound manipulated.
Maybe, the English version could not grasp the original taste of the game.
That's sad. I think there has to be atleast subtitles. Because that way one can play. Lot of deaf gamers play this way. And it seems like a good option for many. But so far it's money consuming task so often ignored.
