Hopefully, this thread will stay tasteful...
It was recently reported on the blog of Animation Historian Jerry Beck that Carl Macek passed away on April 17th due to a heart attack.
Simultaneously loved and reviled for the creation of Robotech, Macek has certainly left his mark upon the animation industry. He was apparently still dedicated to his craft right up to the time of his death, as he even had a hand in the dubbing of works like Naruto and Bleach.
It will be interesting to see the reaction to this as it becomes more widespread knowledge. Macek was undeniably a polarizing figure for many and while there are many who will be sad at his passing, some will probably suggest tasteless things like forming flash mobs to dance on his grave.
