Hey, well - I just got really into toku again. I mean, way back I was into Sentai for a long time but then got off it. My friend got me back on the toku bandwagon with Kamen Rider Kabuto which I have almost finished up in subs in a few days.

So yes, since I am almost done or caught up to that, I want to start another series. I really am in a mood to check at a new generation Rider series, but I wouldn't also totally mind a totally different toku besides the usual Rider/Sentai complex.

So what would you recommend?

Thank you.

Welcome to the boards!!

If you're looking for New Gen KR
In my opinion, I'd watch Blade or Agito.
Also check out the Kamen Rider The First movie. It's a retelling of the original Kamen Rider, with an updated story, effects, and badass suit designs!

Yeah, I heard of the First - it is said to be pretty good. I was also wondering, from the new generation Riders, are any of them hot-head Rider leaders? I mena, I want to see if I can see something totally opposite from Tendou.

Ah alright, I think I'll probably start on Blade then. It is correctly the one with the card system, correct? I wanted to see how that would work.

Yeah, blade trapped the monsters in cards and used their powers. Gotta catch 'em all!! Thank GOD the show was better than it sounds!

Hmmm, wow - nice; now that's how to create a toku. I am just waiting for the Kamen where they have to go inside the internt and defeat digital monsters. That would be a series no one could turn down.

So what would you recommend?

Kamen Rider:

Kamen Rider Black
Kamen Rider Black RX
Kamen Rider Ryuki

I'm sure others will tell you Agito, Faiz, and Blade, I also recommend.

Sentai:

Dengeki Sentai Changeman
Chousinsei Flashman
Hikari Sentai Maskman
Choujyu Sentai Liveman
Chojin Sentai Jetman
Gosei Sentai Dairanger

Metal Heroes:

Sharivan
Juspion
B-Fighter

Henshin Heroes:

Gransazer
Justiriser
Guyferd
Ultraman Nexus

I'd recommend any of the Cho Sei Shin. Also Toho's two preceding series, Guyferd and Cybercop.

Even though it's not for everone I always recommned Rosetta The Masked Angel, and now along with that Lion Maru G. And of coarse you can't go wrong with Garo.

Just my suggestions, only going to suggest stuff that you can easily download for now.

Ultraman Nexus - This is currently my favorite toku for many many reasons. The story is amazing, the characters are excellent and the OSTs are very nice to the ears, the OP and EDs aren't bad either. It's really the deepest toku that I have ever see, the characters and stories are so engaging and you really feel for them when they go through hard times. Yeah it was cut short, but it's still a great series that shouldn't be missed.

Kamen Rider Hibiki - I could go on and on about this one, but I won't. It's a really unique show. My favorite Kamen Rider and I know quite a few people who are fast becoming big fans of this show. Compared to most series, it's really different, it might take some getting used to, but you stick around long enough to get used to it(only took me 3 episodes), then you're going to be rewarded with one of the best cast that any toku has to offer. It does get a little rocky during the middle, but it eventually pans out great, even if the cast weren't fond of the way it played out.

Chouseishin Trilogy - These are good to watch just so you can get a taste of things that aren't part of the "big 3" of toku. For the most part, it was an awesome franchise, a lot of the plot elements I found to be extremely original and entertaining, especially in Sazer X and GranSazer.

Lion Maru-G - It's not subbed, but it's an easy series to find and it's great. Pretty comedic and different from most toku, but it's a great show to watch. There's no real "monsters of the week" in the series, so it feels more like a general Sci-Fi show than toku.
