Easy Rider on a hard road:Bringing Back Kamen Rider to America

80's Orko, like even Snarf, all had their moments. I just remember being frustrated with them back in the day.

Practically everytime Orko would cast a spell it would go wrong to the point where it just wasn't funny.

Recent Orko... I just felt was better used. As were all the Masters. Again... it breaks my heart that that show fell. It was awesome... the story of King Grayskull was far and above anything I thought He-Man was capable of.... or, more like what I always wished they would do.

The new show did rule, I totally agree. It's funny to watch the DVDs of the old show, and the interviews with Paul Dini...it's really obvious that he HATED working on He-man.

It's just that every other comment of his is about how the producers wouldn't let him give Skeletor more depth or something like that.

It's the Best of He-man and the Masters of the Universe DVDs, and you can get 'em at Borders and Virgin that I've seen so far.

I'll explain to everyone right now (as much as I would love to have KR AS Kamen Rider in America) or even an American counterpart (that's serious) it won't happen, because if they try to keep it drama-like the same as KR then we'll end up with something like an everyday superhero, something that's gonna go down hard, something like....

Hey I actually liked it.
It's good to see my whittle article struck up such an exciting conversation  But I see there is some room for clarification.

I`m am all four a US based Rider series with American actors, and I AM NOT RACIST

It seems quite clear to me that whenever the idea of a new Henshin series coming to the states comes up theres is more than just a differening opinion in the air. But rather that some would like to think that just because theres support for a new cast that automaticly means that the supporters can`t stand the sight of asian actors for the mere sake of their race.

Where did I say or anyone say that we can't stand Asian actors? Why not an American cast with Asian American Riders? What about keeping the leader a Japanese male but only he can speak english? It`s all in the llinguistical barriers that block the common viewer from grasping the drama of a scene. Some of you talk of subs work for movies not for television. Most subbed films are dubbed for TV. With movies you have a paying audience who know what they are getting into, but with televison you are talking about millions of viewers watching for free. Thats a much wider audience with less fanboys.

When it comes down to it I fully support seeing KR return with a new cast. And I think if we can send our heroes to Japan, our music, our clothes we have just as much right to import their heroes as well.

And thats the bottom line :redface2:

Yeah, exactly. Something along the lines of kids not wanting or paying attention to depth or whatever. Yeesh...

Orko was something of a master wizard in Trolla, but for some reason his magic didn't function right in the dimension Eternia existed in, so that was the why his spells misfired more often than not. But he had heart and personality. Something his MOTU incarnation was seriously short on.
