Dune Prophecy Coming To Max This Fall

Frank Herbert’s desert worm epic Dune finally has a decent movie adaption, now that Denis Villeneuve’s two-part saga is complete. Actually, “complete” isn’t entirely accurate. Herbert wrote much more to the story, and since the Dune movies were so profitable, you better believe we’ll be seeing adaptions of the other books. The first is coming in record time since it was planned alongside the second movie: a prequel miniseries for Max called Dune Prophecy. Paul Atreides was planned to be the society’s positioned “messiah” long before he was born. The seeds were planted by the founding members of the Bene Gesserit 10,000 years prior, which we’ll see happen in Dune: Prophecy. “[The series] follows two Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind and establish the fabled sect,” reads WB’s official description. The thing about this story, though, is that it isn’t Frank Herbert’s. It’s based on the novel “Sisterhood of Dune,” which was written by BRIAN Herbert (his son?) and Kevin J. Anderson. Having not

Hold on a minute. Another Dune project already? I know the movies were successful, but isn't this a bit soon? And based on a book by Brian Herbert, not Frank Herbert himself? I'm a huge fan of the original novels and Denis Villeneuve's work, so I want this to be good. But Dune is a complex universe, and there's a risk of rushing things. I'll definitely check out Dune: Prophecy, but with cautious optimism. Here's hoping it captures the spirit of the Bene Gesserit and expands the Dune universe in a meaningful way.

Sisterhood of Dune? Intriguing! I haven't read the Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson sequels, but exploring the Bene Gesserit's origins is something I've always wanted to see. The Harkonnen sisters sound like fascinating characters to delve into. The cast is impressive too – Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, and Rebecca Ferguson? Sign me up!

Great news! I binge-watched Dune: Part One on Max the day it was released, and I'm eagerly down the days till Part Two arrives. A prequel series set thousands of years ago? That is a brave decision, but I support it wholeheartedly. New characters, the Bene Gesserit's rise to power - this could be huge. The cast is also stacked! I am confident in Max's ability to provide a high-quality production.

Whether it follows Frank Herbert's or Brian Herbert's vision, I'm excited to explore deeper into the Dune realm. Hopefully, it will avoid getting mired down in exposition and instead focus on the political intrigue and intriguing people that make Dune so appealing.

Finally! The Bene Gesserit deserve their own spotlight. They're some of the most powerful and mysterious characters in Dune, and I've always wondered how they came to be. The Harkonnen sisters sound like fierce warriors and political players. I can't wait to see their dynamic and how they shaped the future of the Sisterhood. The cast is fantastic, and I have faith in Max to produce something visually stunning.

Okay, I'll admit I'm curious. The Bene Gesserit origin story? That has potential. But here's the thing: Dune: Prophecy needs to stand on its own two feet. It can't just rely on name recognition and cameos to win fans over. A strong script, compelling characters, and a deep dive into the Bene Gesserit's world – that's what will make this series successful. I'm cautiously optimistic, but the quality of the writing will be the ultimate deciding factor.
