Dune Prophecy Coming To Max This Fall

Frank Herbert’s desert worm epic Dune finally has a decent movie adaption, now that Denis Villeneuve’s two-part saga is complete. Actually, “complete” isn’t entirely accurate. Herbert wrote much more to the story, and since the Dune movies were so profitable, you better believe we’ll be seeing adaptions of the other books. The first is coming in record time since it was planned alongside the second movie: a prequel miniseries for Max called Dune Prophecy.

Paul Atreides was planned to be the society’s positioned “messiah” long before he was born. The seeds were planted by the founding members of the Bene Gesserit 10,000 years prior, which we’ll see happen in Dune: Prophecy. “[The series] follows two Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind and establish the fabled sect,” reads WB’s official description.

The thing about this story, though, is that it isn’t Frank Herbert’s. It’s based on the novel “Sisterhood of Dune,” which was written by BRIAN Herbert (his son?) and Kevin J. Anderson. Having not read the book, I know nothing of its quality nor whether it measures up to the original.

Dune: Prophecy stars Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, Mark Strong, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka, Faoileann Cunningham, Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds, Chris Mason, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Jihae, Tabu, Charithra Chandran, Jessica Barden, Emma Canning, and Yerin Ha. It will premiere on Max this fall. As for the present time, Dune: Part Two will arrive on the service in a few days.
