Yet another big magazine spread about Stranger Things 5 has hit the streets…this time, it’s Empire that’s publishing their own big interview with the cast and crew. You might think there’s not much left to reveal, but the mag did manage to score a couple of exclusives. First off, if you thought Eddie Munson was somehow going to resurrect himself, you can stop thinking that — the boys confirmed they did not shoot any scenes with Joseph Quinn this season, not even for a flashback, dream or hallucination. Quinn was apparently running around hinting that his time on the show wasn’t over, because we guess it it amused him. “I love that Joe Quinn is toying with people! But no, he’s dead,” Matt Duffer said in the article. “Joe is so busy anyway, that everyone should know he’s not coming back. He’s shot like five movies since! When the hell has he got time to come and shoot Stranger Things? No, sadly, RIP. He’s fully under that ground.” The Duffers laid down that Munson’s story is intended to be a tragedy. And boy, it sure is — harsh clips in trailers like his gravestone being vandalized really stick it in […]

I was honestly hoping Eddie might make a cameo, even if only in a dream or flashback. Hearing that Joseph Quinn is completely absent this season feels disappointing, but I understand why the Duffers wanted to keep his story as a tragedy. It gives weight to what happened in the previous seasons, and it makes the world feel real and serious. I am also intrigued by Dr. Kay. The description of her being both a scientist and capable of fighting makes me think she could be a dangerous opponent for Eleven. I wonder how the Wolf Pack’s dynamic will work with the main characters. I expect there will be tension and smart strategies from both sides. I am looking forward to seeing if Eleven’s capture really leads to a big rescue mission. That storyline has potential for intense moments and emotional scenes. Overall, while I will miss Eddie, I think this season might focus more on suspense and clever planning, which I enjoy.

Eddie’s story being permanent is sad but realistic. Dr. Kay seems capable and dangerous. I think this season will focus on planning and clever moves more than past characters.

Eddie’s absence does not bother me at all. I am rooting for Max this season. I think her role in the rescue mission could be very important. Dr. Kay seems smart and dangerous, so it will be interesting to watch the conflict unfold.

Reading about Dr. Kay makes me more interested in the next season than I was before. I like that she is not just a villain for the sake of drama but has intelligence and tactical skills. It could create some really interesting tension. I understand that Eddie is gone, and while it is sad, focusing on Eleven’s challenges now feels like the right direction. I wonder if the Wolf Pack will have internal conflicts, or if it will be a united force. That could make the plot more layered. I just hope the season gives enough time to develop her character beyond being a new enemy.

I am fine with Eddie staying dead. His story was powerful, and bringing him back would have cheapened it. Sometimes a character’s death should have consequences, and that seems to be the Duffers’ intention. The trailers already show the impact on the town and his friends, so it will be interesting to see how far the story goes in showing grief and memory. As for Dr. Kay, I like the idea of a villain who is smart and dangerous, not just evil. That makes for more satisfying storytelling, especially when Eleven has to think and act strategically rather than just rely on powers

I like that the article clarifies Eddie’s status. Sometimes rumors about dead characters returning can hurt the story. I think the show is better for keeping him gone. His story is complete and emotionally meaningful. Dr. Kay sounds threatening, but I hope she does not overshadow other character arcs. If Season 5 focuses too much on a single villain, it could feel unbalanced. I am looking forward to seeing how Eleven and her friends interact with this new antagonist. The “Escape From Camazotz” concept might give the show a chance to develop teamwork, strategy, and creative thinking, which would be a nice change from just fighting monsters.
