Dragon Ball Z Kai on NickToons this May

You're deathly afraid of this? Is it because of dubbed?

because it's Nick, they will highly sensor it, it will be the first action toon in nick...not comparing it to Avatar because there was not much action.

This. I watch NickToons on occasion and by them not showing a lot of anime I really don't know how they'll handle it. Wolverine and the X-Men didn't get anything cut out on it's 1st season run so with that comes a tad bit of hope. But we'll see though. It's a different world in 2010 than in '97 when DBZ started to come on in syndication. Also the DisneyXD dub of Naruto is ****. IT'S ****!!!

Back in the glory days a lot of us didn't know what we were watching was neutered to the nth degree. CN still owes me 8 episodes of Sailor Moon and I'm still in the business to collect that. I really have to give props to Naruto getting CN to lighten up a little with what they took out. Wasn't really important because Yu Yu Hakusho which could've used that love was already over and done with. That should've stayed on Adult Swim. But maybe, just maybe NickToons may not screw this up. And as I think about it, this may show what may be in store for TMNT. I shudder at the thought.

Personally guys, I don't understand what the problem is. We're not taking something like Gantz or Bible Black and putting it on kids channels. These shows have ALREADY been edited before, so they are just going to use that same format. It's not like Nicktoons or Disney XD is going to be "meaner" then Cartoon Network with editing :/ It's all gonna be the same crap. I mean, how bad was DBZ in it's original run? Yeah, Funimation made it a little bit better then Ocean Dub's (or, Saban's rather) edits. But the thing is, there was still a LOT we didn't see. Babidi's death for instance. Also, the name changes are already there and some people still don't know the differences to THIS DAY :P Also, people ranted the same way they did with Shippuden, and look, is it edited, yes, but would it have been "better" on Cartoon Network. No, lol.

Oh, and about the Cartoon Network giving up comments. Yeah, they are pretty much gonna die now, lol. Well, if they keep their demographic (even though they have crap on, but that's in our opinion) then I guess they're not failing. However, to lose two money makers like Naruto and Dragonball to Disney and Nick, they just lost a LOT of revenue from a LOT of people. Including their demographic (depending on how they could've worked it)

Actually I've heard something however I don't know how accurate it is, or if I'm phrasing it correctly for that matter. I think I read it here or somewhere online that CN wants to create more original CN owned programming to save and ultimately make more money, then simply buying the license to air programs and not make any profit once the run is finished. However that is still shitting on the viewer for some cash as it show more concerns with money then actual ratings.

Yes I believe I've heard of this as well, and while it may save them some money here or there, I feel like it's cutting corners really :/ Especially when something like Naruto and the Dragonball franchise are instant money makers, and always will be (Naruto is iffy though). While these other original shows, be they live action or cartoons, will die eventually. Look at how our childhoods have died and been replaced with newer shows. But Dragonball has been around since the 80's and STILL has money flowing. While Naruto MAY die, it still is a money maker with no end in sight as of right now (and is also an anime, so it fits the discussion :P). Either way, Cartoon Network should realize what they should and should not give away. Especially when stuff like Naruto and Dragonball are pretty much risk free cash.

Makes sense. All that's left for them at this point is to sell the network.

I would love Nickelodeon to buy CN out or acquire the rest of their anime properties so they can establish an anime influenced channel in the vein of Toonami.

And add some Kamen Rider and air Power Rangers, it would be Super Hero Time again. But if they cant get PR, than maybe get the rights to Ultraman so they can adapt it .

I dunno about that, at this point I think that adapting anything isn't the way to go :/ especially with Ultraman, kids won't get it if you want to make it anything like the original, and if it's tampered with, then it isn't Ultraman. It'll become Fishman or something :P Either way, I say go with dubbing.

It's worth pointing out that Kai is already censored (compared to Z) in Japan. All of the full frontal nudity is blocked out in Kai, and the violence is toned down some as well (Goku's death in particular is quite obviously censored).

Yes, I was gonna mention that, but didn't because I was already rambling on too much :P However, I believe like for anything else in Japan as of late, it will be uncut on the DVDs. Although Funimation may get to either use the TV footage, and if they can't, they'll just edit for TV like they always do.
