I've used the Zune, and I've taken training courses online through Microsoft, and they are definitely nice.
The "three times over three days" thing is for any song you get wirelessly from someone. Everything that you put on from your own computer is fair game.
Personally I see the wireless connectivity as being really cool.
It has some very obvious advantages over the iPod. The screen is very impressive in size, and very sharp. We got one at work when someone returned one (the rest of the family had iPods, so they said they wanted to all stick to one type of player), and I took it out to try it out and make sure it worked fine. I loaded up one of the preloaded videos, which was for one of my favorite songs, "The Kill" by 30 Seconds to Mars. The video was very bright and smooth. Another advantage would be the built in FM tuner, which actually shows the name of the station, the name of the song, and the artist, provided the station in question is one of the many who transmits that data over the air with the songs. It had amazing reception inside our store, where reception is usually harsh. The menus are quite nice and easy to navigate.
Overall I'd take one over an iPod Video any day, and I'm a Mac user. I'd gladly tether it to the family computer to use it. I think it's an awesome piece of tech, and I work with technology every day.
