[Discussion] OOO, Den-O, All Riders: Let's Go, Kamen Rider!

On OOO... He would then have Ankh's greed head, Uva torso and then yellow dude's legs

I think Decade wants to keep a low profile considering his previous encounters with the "real" Riders

But really, I understand why the writers wanted to tone him down a bit. It is not the first time they do something like this.
The same thing happened to Ultraman Taro. In his own show, he was this uber god-like hero who could use the powers of his fellow Ultra Brothers if he wanted to, but in every team-up after that, he was just "there"

V3 having the combined strenght of Ichigo and Nigo also seems to have been forgotten as well.
The same with Sky-Rider being a powerhorse that could take multiple Rider Kicks without gettig injured.

If all the Riders had the strenght and powers in the movie that they had in their own shows, then the battle would have been over rather quickly.

Skyrider was actually really weak when he took those kicks. They weren't even proper Rider Kicks either (no electricity effect on Stronger's attack, even though he had used electric attacks right before and uses his actual Den Kick in the battle shown later in that episode). Let's not forget that a few episodes before that skyrider was so weak that his Rider Kick used against Stronger just hurt himself. Even in that episode itslef, Skyrider ended up unconscious after one attack of the monster leading Neo-Shocker's troops.

Now, the super speed that Skyrider got afterwards with his power up did proceed to get almost immediately forgotten...

Doesn't that just prove Skyrider's strength though? It's established that Gran Bazaamii was really tough, so bad that he can beat Skyrider senseless without breaking a sweat and gives the other 7 trouble (though he also cheats.) Skyrider then proceeds to get up, take a beating from the other Riders untransformed, take all those Rider Kicks (and they are proper Rider Kicks according to the script), and he survived, actually sending some of them flying back. And that's all pre-power up. He's already been beaten up by one monster, then 7 Riders, and he lives through it and goes on to become even stronger. So even if he was weak at that time, he's very powerful in general and that seems to have been largely forgotten.

I don't think it does. The way that people talk about it, it almost sounds like Skyrider, before power up, was already stronger than the previous Riders, but the series doesn't attempt to give that impression. Everyone has problems with Bazarmy, but Skyrider is the only one who is knocked out in a single hit. A few episodes before that, there was his training sequence with Stronger where his initial Sky Kick basically did nothing to Stronger...

The training sequence for the power up seemed like a showcase of his will power not proof of his power compared to the other Riders.

I can't remember if they mention "Rider Kick" there, but even so, it's not like those were actually the best attacks of each Rider there. I mean, a generic basic "Rider Kick" from Stronger would actually be weaker than his first finisher, the "Den Kick" and he already had a much more powerful one by that point that had even already been shown in the Skyrider tv show itself.

I think that's the point though, it's not about who can beat who in a straight up fight, it's about the fact that Skyrider can take a beating for 7 Riders and still live through it. Even before he gets powered up, he's able to survive all that. Strength is more than just attacking power.

The whole point of the training in 21 was to show that Skyrider's regular old kick was not always good enough. It can't hurt the monster, it can't hurt Stronger. He has to develop a new power to win. By the time of 28 he's really out of his league so the other Riders help upgrade him. I don't think anybody's saying pre-power-up Skyrider could actually take the others in a 7-on-1 fight. He could however at least withstand them based on what's seen on the show, so that's some proof of his strength.

Keep in mind that even though he'd just been beaten by Neoshocker before that, the whole idea was that the training was strengthening his body as it happened and the costume change was just the final touch. Even before he changes Skyrider's power is already growing (he withstands and eventually deflects two Rider Kicks.)

The idea was to power him up, not to kill him. I don't think the writers would have them use their strongest attacks anyway because if Skyrider survives those, it just makes the other 7 look really weak. But a regular Rider Kick from any Rider is still a force to be reckoned with. Several at once is something few can survive.

It was an entertaining movie overall, there were some things I liked and other things I didn't like, and there were cringing moments like this:

Seriously Toei :redface2:
It reminds me of this monstrosity from Super Sentai :

They always want to remind us that this is an anniversary movie

Could Kabuto beat the Great Leader (human size form) with Clock Up? I bet you he has something up his sleeve that could counter it as well.

Anyway, the Super Sentai Bazooka and the anniversary logo was not out of place at all if you watched the other anniversary movies. However bikes flying and forming a big "40" was just silly.

I mentioned before that's it's impossible for the Riders to pull off stunts that defy logic individually. They can only do it when they're all together. Besides they've done it before in the Showa Era.

The "40" was silly, but a combined attack making bikes fly for a while is about as 'silly' as any finisher in toku. None of them were standard bikes, after all. You might as well complain about monsters exploding after being jump kicked.

On the other hand, I guess you could argue that the 40 was more out of place in Kamen Rider, than the logo in Sentai, especially considering how Sentai often features team logos and such in the background, but Rider never does it.
